Re: Pariah (Eisenhorn vs Ravenor) Review, Spoilers and Notes

I loved this book, but it felt a lot like the opening chapter of a much larger novel.

The man knows how to end on a fun note, I loved that call back to the Eisenhorn trilogy, Abnett knows to leave you wanting more.

Re: [WH40K]The Cobra Class Length and Mass

I found this image on the internet, I dont have the source at hand it so it could be fan art, I haven't looked deeply enough into it. It suggests the use of contra fiel generators to reduce apparent mass of macro shells (after they leave the ship) so they can achieve the multi-thousand km/speeds ht...

Re: Imperial armour: Siege of Vraks analysis

This doesn't explain why, for protracted campaigns, the Imperium doesn't just find a random spot in the middle of nowhere with granite bedrock and blast the surface level with meltastuff or whatever, and then build a spaceport. Which may be part of what Skimmer was getting at; when you're committed...

Re: Saving the the Imperium of Man

It's a similar, but much smaller, stable warpstorm with warpy ickiness inside. Huron Blackheart and his Astral Claws are the most powerful faction in the region, but there are other pirates and renegades within the Maelstrom. It's not actually connected to the Eye of Terror, but is a similar region...

Re: Imperial armour: Siege of Vraks analysis

Forgeworld have kinda added a few things to the Tau armoury, some of which got adopted by the studio for "mainstream" codex use.

Hazard suits for example, supposedly to bolster close support for the Tau firewarriors. I wouldn't be surprised to see them as a codex option next edition.

Re: Warhammer 40K VS Star Trek - A fan's analysis.

I remember that blog post. Its the one where the guy lists all the ground weapons he can think of from 40k and trek, except he includes starship weapons for trek and starts talking about how 40k might have an advantage, except humans can use Q weapons, and the Borg build super mines blah blah, so tr...

Re: Necron 5th edition codex (SPOILERS)

What fucking history? They were virtually devoid of "modern" history beyond the bare scraps of it, and the more recent hints of actual "character" for them, which we can safely attribute to smoothing the way for the 5th edition background. Their ancient history was basically myth...

This all seems like bullshit to me, you're just assuming the highest yields possible and waving your hands at everything else. Also, I note you've changed your opinion on one or more things as time has passed. Ample evidence in my mind that you just change your mind when presented with new informati...

This sounds like another one of Painracks moronic pet delusions.

I.e. some imaginary fan consensus we need his help to realise is wrong/right/not what he thinks it should be.

Although I'm not entirely sure if its supposed to be a character building exercise for Lorgar, he does actually kill a Bloodthirster in personal combat. Its Forgeworlds Mr Angry Bloodthirster as well, supposedly the most powerful and awesome of all Bloodthirsters....apart from Kabandha....or Skarbra...

Re: Ben Counter as a writer

Hit and miss. Looking back to when I first read most of his books, I at least enjoy them, but stuff tends to pile up the longer a series goes on, and rereading a lot of his books makes me less charitable. The execution scene with Vemeth stands out as one of the contrived scenarios that are basically...

Re: Deathwatch vs Space marines

There is a lot of waffling I can't be bothered to dig through, but the existence of the Deathwatch is often "justified" in my mind when I read some of the stories they feature in. The Deathwatch are rationalised at their most basic as "cool alien hunter specialists". In universe ...

Striking Scorpion helmets and Dark Eldar tormentor helms are a similar concept I suppose. Theirs seem to be a distracting first strike to stun a foe before they follow up with swords and glaives though.

Whoever did this has got some talent, the poses and even the expressions on the models are amazing. In terms of deciding anything, the ability of a Ghost to maintain distance twixt itself and a ravening killing machine might be quite helpful, although the Eversor is also crazy with its gun as well. Only as long as some complete moron hasn't lost all but one of their pistol's magazines (ref. IA3)....

Thanas Actually it is also your issue, seeing as you are the one arguing that WH40K will take this one. Well, given that until I posted something, you were going with the " Dunno, but lookit Nova and Kerrigan!" approach, I've not exactly ignored the issue anyway. The latter show pretty li...
