It it was H bomb test then it failed spectacularly. Magnitude 5.1 is in line with their previous sub 10 kt tests. Even plain old atomic bomb working properly would have made around 20 kt blast. They are far from H bomb if they still can't get atomic bomb to work without fizzling after trying 10 yea...

Re: How realistic is "Global Peak" series now?
Global Peak was a really well-written story series by The Duchess of Zeon and others depicting the dystopia that results from the aftermath of peak oil. The U.S. breaks apart between an authoritarian emergency federal government and highly regressive far right governments. Much of Europe goes neo-f...

Re: Inside Out
I was also convinced that Bing Bong was Lotso 2.0. Pixar likes to center plot twists around sudden unveiling of villains a lot. Not everyone of their films have needed villains though and Inside Out certainly didnt. Nemo didn't and i think that film was stronger for it. They let their characters de...

Definitely an amazing movie. I wasn't overly interested in seeing but my girlfriend dragged my along (read needed a lift for her and a friend, and paid for everything). I really rather enjoyed it. Bing bong did sorry of annoy me to be honest. They did do an excellent job with the characters and sto...

By 1940 the machinery is already rolling and it is likely too late to stop it. I doubt you could stop just about any of the state's plans at this point with minorities living inside its borders because the fact is Europe is starving because of your war and their are too many mouths to feed. Grain im...

Inside Out
What a beautifully abstract and artistic movie. The best i've seen from Pixar since Up. I was worried the decline had finally begun after Monster's University and Cars 2 had been such sore disappointments. Not after this movie though, no way. Again it took Pixar's wild card Pete Doctor to whip up so...

Stealing the Enterprise was one of the best BGMs ever, by itself it was 50% of one of the most dramatic scenes in any of the movies. The guy had a real knack for tones of adventurism and excitement in his music. I'm really sad to hear he's gone now.

Re: Jurassic World - Trailer #2 (Universal Pictures) HD
Malcolm is portrayed as no more an expert than the average layperson in either material. Because the gist of his predictions could be made by literally anyone. The reason he was invited to the Park was distinctly different from the reasons Sattler and Grant were invited i'm sure. Hammond probably fe...

Re: Jurassic World - Trailer #2 (Universal Pictures) HD
My arguments are largely based on the book, not the movie. The book Hammond is arrogant beyond measure. He throws money at experts to try to get them to work for him, but doesn't let them do their jobs, repeatedly ignores their warnings and advice, then cheaps out on them once the initial work is d...

Re: Jurassic World - Trailer #2 (Universal Pictures) HD
Moats were recommended by Muldoon and rejected by Hammond, as one of his long string of poor decisions with respect to dangerous wild animals. Hammond almost certainly would've thought that moats would place the crowds too far from the animals. Lessening the effect they'd have on an audience, possi...

Re: Jurassic World - Trailer #2 (Universal Pictures) HD
It's the first movie, like shamelessly. Except their are fewer relateable characters and now a militarism subplot. rogerebert.com wrote that the movie feels like it was written by a couple that had just been through a divorce and I found it hard to disagree.

Frigates were still the biggest pain though, a Star Destroyer is six torpedoes and a few ion cannon blasts away from being a big useless brick, corvettes have the giant deadzone in their fire arcs behind the engine block, etc. As long as you didn't get smacked by the Star Destroyer's light speed bow.

You should get your own act instead of playing the "defense attorney for my own ignorance" routine. Their is a problem in America's public system and just because you either don't see it or don't care does not mean others just have to live with it. Maybe if you weren't here bitching about ...

What's the appropriate thing to do when peaceful protest continues to fail to bring about change? When you don't have the numbers needed to get someone better in office? What's the next step when peaceful acts have been failing for decades? Assuming you are not addressing an acute threat (so speaki...

I always knew Rivera was a huge asshole. This guy's rights were crushed years ago and Fox News, first organization to wax about the rights of whites Americans being under attack, is ignoring him. He's just as bad as Hannity and O'Reilly. He was literally going out of his way to minimize this kid and...

No, I agree with that. But at some point, people feel there is no way of fixing the system, so the system needs to be abolished. And so far nothing has been done that fixes police brutality. I don't blame the people for saying "fuck this" after Zimmerman, Ferguson, Eric Garner (anybody se...

* apparently for eyeballing a police officer and then running away, cause if he's running away he must be guilty of something right? But he was guilty of something. Carrying a concealed switchblade carries a three year sentence in Maryland. Yeah that's a crime, but owning a home arsenal isn't.
