Re: Something big
Is there anything new in it? I feel like I'm really tired of this argument. A ship can do whatever role it can do. That's different from what it was designed for. Like if a destroyer was designed as an escort for bigger ships and a wolf-pack boat, but spends its entire time playing battleship in th...

I visited Missouri in June and went on a tour that went inside Turret 1. I wouldn't bet on any of the others though.

Re: Something big
I thought I heard a suggestion somewhere that an Executor as 'command ship' might even be administrative - a lot of the space is for a city of military bureaucrats, more a flying Pentagon than a USS Blue Ridge. That's why Vader needs one in ESB - if he's CinC at that time then I can imagine him need...

Man, I want it to have a tail gun. Can't be a proper heavy fighter without a tail gun. Damned good as usual, though. I definitely see this thing playing forward LTL, putting shots through incoming bomber squadrons to break up their formations and spoil their attacks. I'm guessing it's hyper-capable?

No no no, you've got to go back one more step - before Carthage much of the people were Celtic - which means that Spain should go, after all, to Scotland(!)

Maybe something like "Superbus"? It doesn't quite match the -or endings you've mostly been going for, but I like the way the Latin meaning shakes out - in one sense magnificent, in the other arrogant, which seems deeply fitting for an Imperial warship. Also we'd be able to make jokes about...

Say what? There was consensus about what the globes were pre-RotJ? Like by who and how, and how do you know? Look at the Geoffrey Mandel blueprints - these were apparently official publications from 1978. The domes are clearly labeled Long-Range Scanners, though many other details are obviously dif...

Re: Trump voter in shock as family get deported from Trump's executive orders
May I simply ask, why should the opinions of people in three tiny states count for more than the opinions of people in two huge ones? I'll go ahead and say that the opinions of people in the huge states counts for plenty - in their own states, where they're free to run the affairs of their state as...

Man, I like the escort carrier, because I like the idea of the Imperial Navy just building cans of INSTANT AIR SUPERIORITY - PULL TAB, but I'm not sure how the original figure of 72 fighters makes sense though on a ship ~8 times the volume of a modern CVN; seems like it should be able to carry more,...

I'm trying to decide between going for a trollololol maxed secondaries build (my captain has manual secondaries already) or else just going for a more conventional main gun setup. Any opinions?

I'm in Lakeview at the moment - a friend and I went out into the streets and walked towards Wrigley Field. We couldn't even get to the front entrance. Clark Street was jam-packed with people. It's half-past midnight now and there are still people whooping and hollering and honking horns in the stree...

Cruise tickets tend to cost a lot more than airline tickets, because you're buying days spent in a big floating hotel with a huge staff of people to take care of you. It's safe , but it isn't cost-effective as a way to travel. And most of the time you'd be going in circles. Actually, for the limite...

This talk about assaulting shielded positions makes me wonder - what about some kind of AT-CV that can carry fighters through a shield perimeter, and then launch them for air support? I don't know if the airspace might be so constricted as to limit the evasive power of the Imperial default of the TI...

And considering the parallels of the T-16 - you can buy a light airplane like a Cessna 172 for around $25000 nowadays. Right after WW2, you could buy a war surplus Stearman biplane for as little as $250 - around $3000 today. I'm sure someone like Broomstick could speak with a lot more experience abo...

Because the Federation council should recognize that their logictics network is seriously fucked up if cruisers have to be regularily used for "emergency" missions. Where do you get the idea that the use of cruisers in emergency/priority missions is a sign of a faulty logistics network? I...

Personally, I'd love to see one of the original TOS ideas for saucer separation - ie the saucer detaches and goes down to the planet's surface as a complete landing ship, and the drive section is basically there to push it around from planet to planet. Granted that we'd never see it (or maybe once o...

Furthermore type of ship doesn't matter for commanders as it does in Tanks - so you can retrain a captain in whatever premium ship you have, or retrain to a different type of ship with no penalties. Your torpedo-specced destroyer captain may not do much to buff the premium battleship he's in, but th...

That isn't quite it though - one of the devs has come out and said that maximum range is determined by the distance to the horizon from the main rangefinder. I wouldn't necessarily expect much of a range increase on that basis - though a non-premium Queen Elizabeth may get that usual FCS upgrade for...
