Re: Positive Environmental news thread

Beeb Greenhouse gas emissions in the UK will be cut to almost zero by 2050, under the terms of a new government plan to tackle climate change. Prime Minister Theresa May said reducing pollution would also benefit public health and cut NHS costs. Britain is the first major nation to propose this tar...

Given that recent example of a senator being denied access to a kids detention centre for several daya, one has to be.... Wary of a situation where oversight is even less present.

You have my condolences, Torquay is a shit hole.

Sorry to hear it chap, Devon seems fairly well served for cancer treatment from what I've seen, mercifully.

Here's to a swift recovery!

I'm almost certain the JewWario stuff was known about previously. Certainly at the time of his death I remember some people discussing the allegations.

And New York is named after the Duke, not the city, I think. Named it after himself after kicking out the Dutch.

Re: Looking for the name of a particular form of government

I've tried a few different variations of this in the search bar. The best I can find is 'Informed' or 'Benevolent' dictatorship.

Aha, found a slightly better one. 'Consensus Dictatorship' seems there is a fair amount of debate as to whether Hitler was an example of it.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi release thread (spoilers)

Although it is a cardinal sin of film making to expect people to get stuff from elsewhere.... , alot of this is partially resolved in the EU, in particular the latest Battlefront 2 campaign DLC. All cutscenes are available on YT. For instance it explains where and how the FO gets its troops from in ...

Re: Harvey Weinstein: fall of Hollywood player they once called ‘God’

Also of note, while slimy, there are employment contracts that require you to forgo informing law enforcement, instead forcing you into HR arbitration, even in the case of criminal acts. I wouldn't think it's too much of a stretch for companies with known offenders in this area to do more than the ...

Re: Harvey Weinstein: fall of Hollywood player they once called ‘God’

Something that has mildly confused me about several of these cases is that (alleged,) attacks are being reported to HR departments, but not the police, who apperently only find out about these things weeks after everyone else Is there a particular reason why this is happening, particularly in the US?

If the subject of the legislation has been devolved to them, yes.

I'm trying to find a good guide to it, but not finding anything that's not in legalese.

Edit

The website for the Parliament does have a broad range of what it has power over

I'm not really a fan of FG/AD but Orville has really surprised me with its quality. Has a very TNGish feel to it, at least in the subjects covered anyway.

I can forgive the cheap CGI. It adds to the nostalgia.

Democracy and a right to unilateral armed secession cannot co-exist. Oh goody, when do we get the American colonies back then? If people don't like the status quo, there has to be a means of letting them express it, beyond the usual voting for who represents you in the building where the status quo...

Don't you just love how they secessionists reportedly have 40% support, yet they are claiming a win of 90% in the referendum? Yeah, that sure sounds legitimate. :wanker: I'm not saying that the Spanish government's handling of it has been anything like ideal, because from all the reports I'm seeing...
