Perhaps Lando just out flew the interceptors using the obsticals(read capships) better. Maybe the falcon ran down the interceptors by counting on the falcon's shields and flying a straighter line and thereby eating up space faster than a weaving fighter with no or little shields.[/quote]

Luck and suprise can often save a man, if his courage holds! A paraphrase, but accurate enough.

When Han bragged about his ship in ANH, it was before the introdution of the A wing and the Tie interceptor. So I guess its possible for him to out run the opposition. Then again it was a Coreillian bragging so....

Yeah! They just never have a chance to use them in the movies. They are hardly ever at range, and when they are they either want to capture or bottle up the opposition.
Those pesky rebels just won't line up right for my missiles, shit.

I thought that the stats for vessels in this regard were related to acceleration not speed.

I have not read that many of the Star Wars comics, but in reading Mr. Saxton's site I noticed that alot, not all but alot of the other classes of ships are the background views of fleets. Thats why I asked the original question. The background vessels , if you will, have simular lines of a ISD but i...

I might be mistaken, but I think we are in agreement then Master of Ossus. Elite can be special training or battle experience or a high esprit de corps.

Just thought of something else Executor. The original nine to a sqd could be two teams of four and a sqd leader, so it would keep the buddy system intact too. Once again just my read on it, hope I helped some.

True but the elite troops were probably just recruited into Death Squadron based on ability and loyalty, they do not have to have any special training above and beyond the norm, just reconized as the best currently in the ranks. And the Dessert troops could be just normal stormtroopers that got depl...

Basic enviromental situations are more of a uniform and equipment problem than a training one, sure some training is required but keeping a deployed unit like the stormtroopers on a ISD flexable is perferable of over specialization of you forces. The forces on Tatooine may have been a special desert...

Maybe so, after the Battle of Endor and the decline(not end of)the Empire the use of stormtrooper armor would be used by conscripts. It was just an idea. But if you had a realy good piece of equipment that work well in the field and was really tested by trial by combat, would you not want to spread ...

I think Patrick Degan hit it right on the head. In Tos the E-nil would get slammed and Kirk would tell Scotty to fix the freaking phasers, and in TNG the E-D would get slammed and Picard would ask for suggestions. Laforge would come up with some stupid remedy that would involve ions, phasing, and re...

It looks pretty good so far. Only a few thing I can think of off the top of my head. The basic element you have is only nine troops, this would mean three fire teams of three. You should increase it to a squad of atleast twelve, to give you fire teams of four. Basic combat tactics alow for you and a...

"sigh" Just because Palpitine died and the citizens rejoiced, does not mean the Empire was destroyed. When the Bolshevic's took over from the Csars the brutal oppresion of the Russian people did not stop. When Napoleon was exiled the replacement goverment was just as bad if not worse, not ...

Can we have it both ways, the fleet was in the astroid field for awhile, and the ISD took various hits to the bridge section before the VFX shot of the astroid that got passed the shields(if they were still up) and hit the conning tower.

Sure, I agree that they sould draw exactly what they want to show, but that does not mean that an artist working on the comic series does that. What should the limit be in regards to the artistic expression and when should we start disregarding what we see in a comic book? As far as I can tell the o...

Dark empire was a comic series wasn't it? Any way how much do you guys alow for artistic expression when it comes to comic series and cannon? I've read the cannon statments but what if the artist wanted a stardestroyer and just jazzed it up alittle with his own interpretation of one.

If turbolasers are not lasers, and a lightsabre is not made out of light, why does a stardestroyer have to be a traditional destroyer? In all the movies, and most EU they are used in a different role than what we would consider for a destroyer are they not? Escorting larger ships like the Executor i...

I thought that the Vics were developed later in the clone war. The GR was just organizing their millitary, so I always figured that the Acclamator was supposed to be like a USN LHA. They were used to bring troops into a combat zone. Probably durring the war, some Acclamators were attacked and destro...
