:wtf: This is the thing I really don't get about the Catholic church: why the hell haven't they taken measures to clean house themselves? I'd think that would be preferable to one diocese after the next having scandals, especially when the administration must know who the paedophiles are because the...

On the "Agenda" thing, it's just politics-speak for "to-do list." There's nothing intrinsically diabolical about having goals. I'd be more concerned about a political party or interest group that didn't have one. However, if your agenda reads like this... 1. burn the village 2. ...

To give you an idea, I'm currently at about 50% system resources free. If I start WinAmp it drops to 45%, while with MusicMatch it drops to 36%. I've had a couple problems with MusicMatch: often it crashes with an illegal operation the first time I try to start it, and if I try using it with "w...

MSN Explorer internal error

If MSN Explorer is popping up the "internal error" dialogue box after you've been online for a few minutes and your IE homepage has been reset to About:blank, you probably have the same variant of CoolWebSearch that I had to get rid of on my dad's computer. Neither Spybot, Ad-aware, or CWS...

Throwing such a large quantity of troops at a world to be conquered would probably be counterproductive. You have to provide enough supplies for them in transit, and unless the planet is sparsely populated you'll be adding quite a burden on resources like available food supplies (assuming you can ea...

I can see a good number of people here heading straight for the weapons console to establish, beyond any doubt, what the figures for Trek weapons are. We might firmly establish the firepower of hand phasers first if an argument breaks out over which country to use for our tests.

Rather than use nukes, you could drop a sufficiently large mass (asteroids or something) from orbit to replicate their effects.

Good to know I'm not the only one who's had a pet rat. Snakes don't bother me much either. I don't have a real problem with spiders, per se; but after my ex-fiance had a spider bite get seriously infected, I keep an eye on them when I spot one. My real problem is roaches: after 3 years in Florida I ...

IIRC (and bear in mind this was a documentary I saw on ROTJ a long time ago,) Huttese is a real, spoken language or was at least based on one. I forget from where, somewhere in the Indochina area maybe. Edit: found it on TF.net, although I had the source horribly wrong. It's apparently a modified ve...

Railguns, with osmium hyperpenetrating rounds.

The ice gun from Paranoia has always been a personal favorite of mine... the evidence just melts away.

TK guns from Rifts for similar reasons: probably out of place in this forum, but I'm sure something similar could be devised with force fields.

Trojans and Worms and Spyware, Oh My

My dad was having some trouble with his computer yesterday. I sat down with a disc containing Spybot, Ad-aware, and Hijack This around 5 pm, figuring in an hour or so tops I'd have it cleaned. As of 9:00pm today, here's what Ii've removed, in no particular order: Adware.Cax Downloader.ET Trojan.Byte...

It gives me problems, particularly if there's a fairly large block of text. Two points larger would be an improvement IMHO.
