Re: Something big

More or less. The only fixed points are ISD = 1e25W, and assuming a 250m diameter reactor. Everything follows from that at some level.

Re: Something big

Some of the designs definitely have evolved a bit, especially at the low end of the range where the scaling gets really sort of wonky. Generally speaking, if I say it's MTL, I currently assume 200GT/shot like Acclamator unless specifically noted. The twin turrets on the Vigil and Velox I'm now assum...

Re: Something big

This is sort of related. As an adjunct to the art stuff, I've started a discord server for ideas, comments, etc. If any of you want to come and talk art or design or general naval/scifi tech real time, the link is here:

Re: The ultimate Sketchup ISD

Great start. Watch that rear tower neck angle.

Does sketchup have layers or proxy/xrefs? That can really help with file performance and management.

Re: Something big

The ships in the profile view in the rack link do not have them going on the top side, all of the racks are on the bottom? for example the scimitar. also if they had to go on the top then you would have the issue that only one ship could be on the rail at the same time since any returning racks wou...

Re: Something big

And actually, that brings up something else I remember running across. Is the old EU depiction of the standard ISD reactor output at "~7,73 × 1024 W" correct enough or was that just putting a number without thinking about the dimensions of the reactor? I assume 1e25W. I don't actually kno...

Re: Something big

Thank you, Ansel. By the by, I got a friend saying that the Executor is stronger than the Assertor-class. I've been trying to convince him he's wrong, since the Executor is a battlecarrier and the Assertor is a battlewagon...anything you can do to help? You can link to this and say that I say the A...

Does anyone remember what the stat write up was for the Legator-class Dreadnought? Finally decided to have a go at making a TIE hangar rack work properly: http://fractalsponge.net/?p=4495 Oooh, that's nifty. I appreciate the effort you made for the end animation there. I have in my notes: 8014.5m, ...

Re: Something big

For the TIE rack how do they go backwards for larger ships, it looks like the struts are only on one side so they wouldn't reverse? Round the top - the gantries to hold the rail up would go on either side. reversing to go back but in the same horizontal plane would be problematic for fighters lined...

Re: Something big

I once tried to game out a corvette-size (<200 meter long) ship with a heavy turbolaser and some actual functionality as a corvette rather than just a mobile gun, but the space just isn't there unless you really specialize the design. Just the heat alone would be a serious issue, to say nothing of ...

Re: Something big

Structurally, I have no idea about the minimum structural requirements for bracing. Given that, if you didn't care about firing more than a few shots then conceivably you could mount a gun, a capacitor, and brace it as well as possible to some kind of engine on as small as a small corvette. It would...
