Re: Harry Potter and the Prime Minister's revenge (James Bond vs. Voldemort).

A bullet in the head of pretty much all the death eaters is quite possible... the problem there is its pretty much required that Bond would have either ministry support or Phoenix support, and if either organisation was willing to simply off the known/suspected death eaters they could do so themselv...

Re: Theresa May calls snap General Election for June 8th

Down side is if it goes the wrong way for her it could end up increasing Corbyns support within the Labour party room, but I'm not well versed enough in UK politics to know how likely that is. She would have to make a good and proper mess of it for that to happen. Corbyn will be fighting to not tak...

Re: The Founders vs the Empire

I'm putting it on a trade route major enough that people won't just stop-using it. Also, because otherwise the situation would be more boring. Space is big, the local commerce guild saying stay 5,000,000km away from this space hazard and putting a beacon there is not going to stop a trade route tha...

Re: The Founders vs the Empire

I'm placing the wormhole in a position where keeping it a secret is something they can do for maybe years, not indefinitely, See I'd see this issue in reverse, detection of the wormhole depends on someone stumbling across it early, the longer the dominion has to infiltrate the local military or civ...

Re: Last Jedi first trailer.

Given what we observe as the consequence of them not doing that? Hell fucking yes! But how do you maintain an organisation on an aim they think they have achieved 1000 years ago. The X men can get away with it as they have a new villain appear every week. And that's the problem. They have decided t...

It would be a bizarre organisation that solely exists to prevent splinter groups of it from existing when they believe such groups were wiped out 1000 years ago.

Re: Borussia Dortmund football team bus hit by explosions

I admit that when I saw this, I made the same mistake that so many others do, that's been drilled into us by the media and popular culture: Basically "Oh God, here we go again, another jihadi attack." Which just goes to show how thoroughly that kind of reflexive response has permeated our...

Re: gay marriage => planes falling out of the sky according to marriage alliance spokeswoman

To play devils advocate a ring with a gap in it is a significantly greater health and safety risk than a normal ring. It would have a much greater chance of getting caught in things. Obviously if the airline has already issued these out they would have made an assessment that any such risk is minima...

We sit in awe at a 24 hour battery for a laptop (3-4KWh) that can be made out of only iron, silicon and copper and weigh a fraction of 2.5kg In general human civilization leap frogs past where we are currently with magic computers. By 1900 we are likely at modern day tech levels in some sectors... I...

Re: The Founders vs the Empire

An interesting premise that depends on a few factors. At what point in the ST timeline is this... if they have already engaged the Federation in war or are infected by the Sec31 plague then they are doomed as their ability to infiltrate is removed. Overall the changelings have proven very succesful ...

I would like to see if Thrawn does anything with Bendu's body He doesnt have it, it disappeared, either to become one with the force or didnt exist in the first place. we're nearing the point where Rogue One starts Are we? Its pretty weird that the entire Inquisition has vanished along with vader when the Empire knows full well it has two trained Jedi running around slaughtering troops on a mission ciritical area. I'm not sure I get the Thrawn didnt win angle... he wiped out like 95% of the Rebel forces and destroyed ...

Nah, it's enough to blow a couple of fuses so their computers crash and they lose the unsaved data - and that's something an excessively strong signal may reasonably be able to do. Re: Second Scottish Independence Referendum Is Go

Looks like the SNP don't have a majority in the Scottish parliament either from a quick google. The SNP have a 4 seat majority, but in terms of number of votes the unionist parties have a majority over them. Here's the site I looked at it. Looks like 63 for SNP and 66 for all the others? Sorry your...

The Sovereign and the two in Secret Cargo, but what was the fourth? 1. Tarkins Star Destoryer (Presume thats the Sovereign) - lightsaber to the reactor - evacuated (but barely, did suggest Star Destroyer crews were much lower than the 40-50k mark as a few shuttles was enough for total evacuation. 2...

Re: Star Wars: Rebels

The rebel fleet may not stand a good chance against the Empire through conventional means, but they're certainly vulnerable to guerrilla tactics. I just remembered its actually 4! Only one of them was probably lost with all hands though - 40-50k imperial casualties for a couple dozen rebels is a pr...

I don't think you could carry enough fuel for it to be useful on that design. Unless they are not intended to be out for long or are moving with large wagons on fuel they would run out and freeze pretty quickly.

And that the way to greet a hostile shuttle is with a sector governor and a single trooper in a suddenly empty hanger. Apparently the Death Star is unique in having manned security on its prison blocks too. Thrawn might be 'playing the long game' but he is making himself look like an idiot in the me...

They trace their lineage back to police robots that survived the extermination of those they were sworn to protect, so they evolved, grew and began to spread to other worlds to protect sapient life from itself. Even if you remove malicious motives being hidden behind this if they 'evolved' into a v...
