Re: Harvey Weinstein: fall of Hollywood player they once called ‘God’

I want to publicly apologize for my vitriol and content-free posts. I did engage in victim blaming even while knowing the potential ramifications that could happen to these women.

I was turned off by the lack of development in Deckard’s internal struggle with killing the replicants. I didn’t buy any of it. The acting sucked too. Visuals were stunning, though.

Scenario 1: You lock him up. He committed the crime, and while he’s lost his epic zodiac memory he clearly has not lost his procedural memory. That means his likelihood of offending in this way in the future is unaffected. He’s a public safety hazard regardless of his memory of the specific crime. ...

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

Question: Has Trek ever been hard sci-fi? I ask because everything I've seen from the property suggests it never has been. Honestly? I don't think *anybody* has ever seriously advocated it (anybody that wasn't a Trektard or troll, anyway). There is simply too much that isn't hard-SF about it. Light...

Re: Is Religious-based Mourning Immoral?

I've long said that religion fills needs that logic does not. If losing a child isn't the worst thing that can happen to a human being it's still damn close to the top of the list, and for most it IS the very worst thing. Even if someone's religion, or religion-inspired viewpoint, is repugnant to m...

JLTucker, you are a twat and a shit head. Same for you Biostem. Words can't do justice to the level of shits you are being. Skimmer's already said pretty much what I think but Biostem, no, we have an absolute right to vilify the OP when the OP is being cruel for the sake of smugness. Your decision ...

Re: Is Religious-based Mourning Immoral?

I just think it’s a cynical way to look at death, that God was justified in killing your daughter and leaving you and others to suffer. Your kid wasn’t suffering whatsoever so he takes her to alleviate her of what, exactly? I don’t think this kind of “coping” comes from anything but a religious mind...

Re: Is Religious-based Mourning Immoral?

My mother is a very Godly woman, but even she finds that kind of "going home" talk to be stupid. You died, you passed away, you lost your battle with illness. You did not "go home to be with" anyone. I can somewhat understand the “going home” sentiments for someone who suffered ...

Is Religious-based Mourning Immoral?

An old classmate of mine recently lost her daughter of 15 years. She made a post on Facebook that included the following: 'Who would know it would be her best day of all. Who would know when she walked out of my house at 7:20 that Friday morning, she was going home. She was going to where she knew s...

The good news is that Del Toro did not direct and Charlie Hunnam is not starring. The bad news is that it looks like utter trash, just like the first one. And Boyega needs to go away. Seriously. The weakest link in SW appears to be in everything, lately.

Guns should be seen as a privilege, not a right. Self defense is absolutely a right, and firearms are an extension of that. "Haha well maybe the cops will arrive on time or maybe not" is a pretty shitty thing to say to someone. If you can prove to me that you live and work and have daily ...

Because there's something to be said about Plug and Play. Also, nostalgia at having a box with physical similarity to something you owned as a kid that, due to HDMI and resolution scaling, can be used in the modern day with little difficulty. You could always get a Retron and some multicarts for th...

I've spent a few hours playing it. The games I played still hold up, except for perhaps Mario Kart. Super Mario World and Street Fighter II Turbo are still a lot of fun to play.

Right now I've spent most time on Earthbound. Not a bad game, IMO.

Re: SNES Classic Edition Thread (No 56K)

Even if the quality is somewhat better than the emulation provided by a PC emulator, it's really hard to justify $80 (likely more up here in Canada) for games I can play for free on my PC or on a RetroPie. How is the RetroPi’s scaling? I’m considering it in case I am too scared to hack my console.

As i said, I haven't played any of the games. My guess is that it's probably still there given none of these games have been changed in any way.

I have no idea what the SNES emulators on Wii were like, I was talking about emulators on Windows like ZSNES or SNES9x. (I think I used one of those; it's been a long time since I was into retrogaming)
I've used them too and they are not as good as what's on this retro console.

Re: SNES Classic Edition Thread (No 56K)

Will they ever expand on that games list? Nope. They're all built in. Hackers managed to dump the Star Fox 2 rom, so maybe they'll figure out a way to load more games on it. I'll be getting a RetroPi so I can play more games, like the Dragon Ball Z RPGs. Why these inferior products exist when there...

SNES Classic Edition Thread (No 56K)

I'm not sure how active this thread will be, but I'm going to gamble and make it anyway. I picked mine up about two hours ago and have given it a look. Nintendo released the SNES Classic Edition today, 9/29. For $79.99 you get a miniature replica of the console with 21 games, an HDMI cable, two SNES...
