a pissed-off Aspect of Tiamat (when she figures out the slaughter of those Black Dragons was linked to the Fiends attempting to take the Snarl....), Tiamat already knows; the Fiends had to promise her that 5 good dragons would be killed for every black dragon that died. https://www.giantitp.com/com...

Re: Conflict erupts at Minneapolis, L.A. protests over George Floyd death

I mean, who can't name someone they would have killed if it weren't for the fact we'd probably be sent to prison for it? Hi there. As infuriating as I may find certain people, fear of getting caught isn't even the main reason that I haven't ever killed anyone. The main reason, for I suspect most ot...

One of the things that made the books, especially the later ones, drag on was the detailed descriptions of clothing and other items. With a visual medium at least there is that help tighten things up right from the start.

Re: Boeing 737 MAX model involved in Ethiopian Airlines crash banned from European airspace.

The aircraft already has multiple AoA sensors, for some reason Boeing didn't see the need to have both feed into MCAS. It is a software fix to add that functionality at this point. If that's the case then someone at Boeing is a fucking dumb-ass and should be fired and never permitted to design/buil...

I'm pretty sure that the party members' poor Will saves has been mentioned specifically in the past but I can't remember when exactly, other than it was Roy talking to somebody (when he was dead maybe?)

The unlimited range cruise missile sounds like Project Pluto https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Pluto which is an engineering and technical challenge but not conceptually unworkable. It is also fucking insane from a public perception point of view.

I think 62 is either the plate or the plate/rod assembly, 7 looks like a spring though.

That is actually a pretty clear IPL, as old stuff goes; though you are right that it desperately needs a legend.

Re: "Whispers of Destiny" - "Undiscovered Frontier" Season 2 (Multiverse Space Opera Crossover)

I've been reading this for a couple weeks now on my breaks at work and just got fully caught up. I've constantly had some relevant piece of music or other running through my head as I read; not least of which is a fully orchestra version of the original BSG theme when Galactica and Pegasus make thei...

Re: Are there any pre-existing keyboard shortcuts to max out the volume instantly?

It takes a couple of seconds to adjust the sound via the volume bar. How much of a rush can you be in that using the mouse for that amount of time is just too damn slow for you? Archinist's specific case aside; when I upgraded from my old laptop to my new PC I got a bog standard keyboard and one of...

Re: Why don't the U.S. military build heavy turret emplacements/automated towers?

I mean wasn't there a much smaller mobile fort being planned in WW2? It's not as ridiculous as it sounds, surely. Also the thousands of SAM turrets and flak cannons might be a hazard to the B-52 or they might not be? Something being considered in (or even after; project Pluto comes to mind) WW2 doe...

There can be a Grand Council of Maesters/?Lords? that can choose the next king if the succession is sufficiently ambiguous/disputed. Maester Aemon was quietly offered the crown before it went to IIRC Aegon the Unlikely (Egg).

Re: Ship phasers: stun setting?

It would make sense if it wasn't possible (that single outlier aside); we know that hand phasers on stun can still be lethal, it could be that ship-mounted phasers just have too much raw power to be dialed back to be able to reliably stun.
