Re: The "Maverick" Protagonist

One thing that also struck me was that it was made clear that Altaïr had no sympathy from his nominal peers; it's not just Abbas who has a thing against him (even if Revelations brushes over this by almost entirely skipping the events of the original game) and while Malik's remarks are more famous, ...

Re: Blops 2

And dude Spec Ops is the best ever. It doesn't outline its setup very well which hurts the opening (since you don't really understand the context until later) but it has soldiers in a desperate situation doing crazy shit and this having real and dramatic consequences. Its apocalyptic in an almost e...

Re: Assassin's Creed III

Does that mean they've tried to tone down the magic alt-history stuff, or is it just a Vita thing? The muskets not being usable as ranged weapons seems to be a Vita thing; in AC3 there's a segment early on where the devs seemed to have intended for the player to be essentially killing enemies for t...

Re: Mega-storm Sandy

Power was partially restored in my house, albeit only to the front side (so as far in as the kitchen on the first floor, up until the kitchen on the second floor) but that's enough to be typing on a keyboard for the first time in days! It'll be enough hopefully to not have to reschedule an upcoming ...

Re: Presidential Debate Obama VS Romney Final Round

Romney:We will do what we are already doing unlike what Obama is doing already! It will be different because I'll be doing it instead of him! Sadly, this pretty much sounds like Romney's campaign at times -- grab the policies that are popular and 'trust' in his base to be just that "anyone but...

Re: MMA Thread 2011 edition: Death of a promotion

I didn't mind Chael as a late replacement when Hendo got hurt. That was fine; you put together whatever you can on short notice. But having him coach TUF and get an immediate title shot at 205? Just no. I understand it's because their shows are hurting in the ratings, but still. I don't know how co...

Not least because, besides state constitutions not being allowed to directly contradict the US Constitution, the judge's use of "heightened scrutiny". To quote the portion that ThinkProgress quoted : [W]e conclude that review of Section 3 of DOMA requires heightened scrutiny. The Supreme C...

Re: Presidential Debate Obama VS Romney Round 2

Seemed quite odd when the topic was immigration for Romney to so forcefully and suddenly make that Pension attack against Obama. Obama was like "WTF?" For me the funniest part of the pension moment wasn't even Obama's line that resulted in the overhead laughter, but Romney going "Mr....

I understand that the Second Wave options can be manually enabled by INI editing? Doesn't sound like on-disc DLC if only because (okay I'm probably making some logical fallacy here) one would imagine that Firaxis wouldn't make one whose "security" (against being available without buying th...

Re: Presidential Debate Obama VS Romney Round 1

To a conservative viewer, the debate appeared as if Romney masterfully picked Obama's talking points apart one by one. And the day after Obama is coming out and saying all of Romney's talking points were lies. Which sounds like whining. Whether the narrow undecided voters have the same impression r...

Seems to be followed by a sourcebook that would/will focus on the Rebellion, and then one that focuses on Force users in the Dark Times.

Going to have to see how it pans out, I still have a soft spot in my heart for Saga Edition (which I felt for years to be the only good d20 system).

Re: Day Z, the post apocolyptic zombie survival game

I've heard that it's only to 80-90% of buildings that may be entered for ARMA 3 -- unless they're using a totally separate, DayZ-exclusive "island" for the standalone. The BIGGER changes though are that the ARMA 3 engine has a revised inventory menu (plus oh hey, a modern attachment system...

What the ...: ArmA2's latest patch was officially released yesterday after months of beta patches, and it unexpectedly brought with it a number of nerfs to weapons used in DayZ. The thing that the most people have noticed is that revolvers and M1911's can't one shot zombies anymore... but i...
