Re: Thank you to the Mods
It's possible what Gandalf is thinking of is that there were a small number of people who did get in a sense 'special consideration' because - as Dalton notes - its Mike's board and Mike's rules. It wasn't ASVS so much I believe as it was certain people in the SW vs ST circles he ran in (Brian Young...

Re: Source 40k Armor
if that's the non Lexicanum wiki I would be wary of citing their sources. I KNOW they have a tendency to make up unsourced shit. Most wikis do in fact. And even the 'reliable' ones (Lexicanum) will provide incomplete sourcing or source from different editions without people realizing it (which can c...

Re: Calcs 40k Macrocannon Power
I'll note this doesn't mean doing such calcs are POINTLESS, mind. I'm just saying it doesn't pay to get too fixated on a particular outcome or a particular way of doing it. Starting on particular assumptions that 'it needs to be continent destroying' for a particular weapon (as opposed to an entire ...

Re: Calcs 40k Macrocannon Power
I honestly don't worry that much about pinning down specific firepower numbers. For one thing it operates on a huge range of variables that literally vary by many orders of magnitude (a factor of millions LITERALLY between the high and low ends easily) and an even greater degree of context (ship to ...

Re: Source 40k Armor
Thank you very much Connor, so there's a huge variability in thickness, from ship to ship. So if you remember any other quote about the thickness in other ships? They'd probably be buried in all my analysis if there are. The only ones I remember offhand probably come from the FFG RPGs (I think ther...

Re: Source 40k Armor
It can range from a few meters thick (5 meters in the first Bation Wars novel Emperor's mercy) to tens of kilometers thick (Black Crusade RPG core rulebook by Fantasy Flight Games, and that was a Grand cruiser. Then you have really crazy shit like 'kilometres thick' armor plates (nevermind the hull)...

By licensing, but in the most absurdly restrictive and aggressive kind that would make the RIAA/MPAA and similar real life organizations look restrained and progressive. As Necron_Lord says the AdMech are very secretive/protective of their technology monopoly (so much they deceive, manipulate and ki...

Man I forgot abou tthis totally. Last update for Shield of Humanity. Been caught up with the SB stuff. Such alterations may range from custom-carved stocks, to salvaged or refurbished part...

Since Forge Worlds only produce Superheavies (usually.) AdMech associated facilities like factory/...

This time, Shield of Humanity, which covers abhumans, associated organizations (Ecclesiarchy and AdMech types) and a few other fun things. Re: Black Crusade analysis/discussion thread
Technically its always been possible to manifest outside of the warp, it just takes a Chaos God IIRC a huge expenditure of power to do so, and in most cases they would deem it a risk (leaving them weaker against the other Chaos Gods.) If true (this being 40K) it would be interesting to speculate why...

Re: Black Crusade analysis/discussion thread
Back from almost a year ago with a new Black Crusade update. Yes it took them that long to release Tome of Decay, it seems. FFG got caught up in their acquisition of the Star Wars RPG license (as well as expanding the shit out of that) and a bunch of new things, as well as fleshing out only war. And...

Re: In Memoriam: Martin Kemmish / SirNitram
I still can't really find words to express it myself. I knew and remembere talking to Nitram long ago during the early days of the board and the pre-SDN ASVS era. We sorta fell out of communication and I feel bad about that, honestly, but I still liked the guy. I took this long to come and speak bec...

Okay I wanted to do an 'update' here. We've got a few adventures and stuff. Last novel path of the Archon. It concludes the coup against Vect in truly spectacular fashion, and it shows us in vivid detail just why he's in charge of the place for thousands of years. Part 3 PAge 270 "One final surprise was the discovery of a birthing tract," Kryptman noted with a mixture of technical enthusiasm and despair. A bionic appendage holding an open stasis casket rose to display a collection of fleshy, vein-threaded sphericles. "This means that the predat...
