Re: Grenfell Tower Block Fire in London

That's why I'm hoping records of exactly what was ordered are still around. Those records would prove who decided to use the substandard materials. So 60 buildings have been found to have cladding that doesn't meet fire safety stadards. Or, more accurately, all buildings tested so far have been foun...

Here's hoping that there are records of exactly what cladding they specified.

On irradiated vs non-irradiated: I'm not convinced that there is a taste difference. If you want to convince me that there is, show me the results of a simple double blind taste test on the food in question.

Re: Recommend me some podcasts

Thanks for the suggestions. At the moment I'm estimating that I'll be listening through at least 20 hours each week. Long back catalogs give me more time to find listenable podcasts. I see some recommendations for podcasts that go through TV series an episode at a time. How listenable are those podc...

Recommend me some podcasts

Currently I work security, which means lots of time spent watching security cameras with nothing happening on them. So I'd like something to listen to while working. The radio isn't enough any more.

Does anyone have any podcasts they would recommend ?

A series placed, say, 5 years after the Dominion War might be interesting; post-DS9 exploration of the Gamma Quadrant? You have the Dominion to play up your political tensions, and the Gamma Quadrant is basically a blank slate for introducing new races and characters unlike the Delta Quadrant now. ...

So after the worst campaign in recent history run by the conservatives, Corbyn still could not deliver a parliamentary majority. It's not like multi-party parliamentary systems have anything but a cursory relation to he will of the people. Here's a video made after the last UK election: That depend...

Re: Theresa May calls snap General Election for June 8th

Sadly it looks like derailing car crash Brexit is too much to hope for. Maybe, maybe not - the DUP are in favour of a very soft Brexit, nowhere near what the hard line Tories want. It will be interesting as the Tory back benches and the DUP have completely opposing views on Brexit, and both can scu...

Re: Titanfall 2 and gamers' hypocracy

My thoughts are if it's TitanFall 2 The first one must have been decently well received. Yeah, but it had no single player, waaaa I want my mommy!!! I rarely buy games before they get at 75% discount. I can't guarantee that anyone is still playing the multiplayer at that time. So single playe...

A normal person would have just admitted that they made a typo and went to bed without noticing. People would have laughed and then it would have blown over.

Trumps cronies can't admit that he makes mistakes.

Here in sunny Colorado, you can mail in your ballot as soon as you receive it if you want to, without ever leaving your own home, but they don't count it until election day, which I think solves everyone's objections. The idea is that the vote has already been cast before a scandal pop up. If it wa...

Don't know what to describe. You request trade, put items in the box, and both parties have to accept. That said, I don't recall if the system auto-unaccepts if something is removed from the trade window as I have not traded with anyone I did not know. Is this trade window all the game has ? No too...

There was a free weekend a few weeks back and the game was half off. The amount of time gating is limited, especially for a F2P MMO. Is it a F2P MMO or one you pay for ? Also, please describe the in-game trading systems. I've found poor in-game systems to be something that ruins the rest of the gam...

Re: Star Trek: Discovery - the first trailer

One problem with trailers is that it's much easier for a trailer to show the bad plot points than the good. Because bad plot points can look bad from a brief snippet, while good parts require a lot more viewing time to see that they are good. Too much time to fit in a trailer. For example, that holo...

Found a copy of the trailer.

Not sure I like the "trying to save you all" line. I'd like a story other than trying to stop a threat that could end the Federation.

Nor do I like young Spock being included. "10 years before Spock". Here's Spock.

The funny thing about that is that if CBS don't work out some sort of international distribution rights quickly, people will pirate the shit out of it because it's so inaccessible as a show. Last I heard, it's going to be on Netflix outside the US. I can't say anything more until I see the trailer....

Re: Superman "Vs." One Punch Man & My Hero Academia

OPM's hero system, it's way too focused on fame and image and a ton of the heroes are jerks. Intentions are good, but he'd want them to clean up, put an end to 'newbie crushing,' etc.. He'd probably do articles on them as Clark Kent, with recommendations on the reform needed. I'm not familiar with ...

There are several brands of internet-connected vibrators and dildos, like the WeVibe, which also contain pretty serious security flaws.
