I wonder if it would be possible (once it comes out on DVD) to figure out a few more details regarding his suit based on the following details: -The stated altitude when the suit ices up. -The speed at which he reaches that altitude in the final fight -The time between the various announced percenta...

According to this site, the human heart uses about 1.71W of power under normal load. Given a human lifespan of eighty years, that's ~2.16e11 J of energy carried. For the maximum load of 3GW, that's about 72 seconds of uptime. By comparison, the LM2500 family of gas turbine engines (derived from the...

No. I was actually thinking of them when I wrote the OP. They're supposedly the most ancient of all species, and have had advanced technology almost as long as the universe has been around. Which is a cop out.

Gas Giant Life

I'm wondering how life on gas giants could even develop technology. It's fairly common to have advanced lifeforms hiding within all the gas giants in the universe. Or at least to have life forms of some kind that are worth the human heroes bothering to deal with. There are gas-whale/squids who resid...

The shortest Azkaban sentence we hear about is six months for Marvolo Gaunt assaulting a ministry officer. Since Azkaban is so terrible, so strength sapping, that people rarely visit even for a few minutes, it can be assumed that even a two week sentence would be punishment enough for many crimes. I...

The ID4 aliens. They don't need to strip mine earth. They don't need slave labor. Actually, we never really get a good reason why they have to attack our planet. But there also seems to be no indication that they have FTL capabilities. And Earth, which realistically has no chance to defeat them, app...

I was actually somewhat impressed, for it being a series premiere. Visual effects are definitely of a lower caliber than nBSG or Stargate, but they seem to make up for it alright. Honestly, the only thing that really bugged me was how Flash's mom looked like she was only about ten years older than ...

Ghetto edit: I totally stumbled upon this show, and had no expectations.

I turned off the Tigers game in the 4th, and managed to catch a glimpse of Dr. Who as I channel surfed while I waited for my computer to turn on. So I watched that and saw a commercial for Flash Gordon, the series premier.

Well... it was a little cheesy. But good. Effects were about typical for SciFi Original. I have to say, they better not get too into love-triangles. I want to see rocket ships firing space cannonballs. Not a cast of brunettes fighting over a blonde. Also, I wonder how many of Flash's Earth buddies w...

Can you imagine if the Americans had used this stuff during the war? The myth of "invincible Panzers" would have never come to fruition. Kursk had put the coup de-grasse to that myth, which had been dying a slow death since Monty kicked Rommel's ass at El Alamein. As it is, those things w...
