Your closest brush with death?

Inspired by this lovely BBC Documentary of a lizard escaping a (literal) nest of snakes : What's the closest you've come to (violent or sudden) death? (Try to avoid anything involving cars, those aren't as interesting). In my case, (not counting yanking a friend away from a car that sped through a z...

Re: Peace Talks & Battle Ground (Spoilers)

My Spoilery Peace talks thoughts (repost from my reddit post 2Y back, before BG came out): I liked it, but I was REALLY bothered by a number of very egregious cases of Harry doing/not doing things purely out of plot dictates. I was expecting a reveal along the lines of mind control (as was the case ...

Re: Peace Talks & Battle Ground (Spoilers)

Plus her being picked as an Einherjar despite being a devoted and faithful Catholic who probably wanted to go to a Christian afterlife and not fight forever really strikes a wrong note to me. Then again maybe this means we will see her again? She’s not supposed to return until everyone’s forgotten ...

Re: Jupiter's Legacy

I didn't like it. Stupidly slow, writing wasn't great, and lots of circumventous bullshit to get 1/4 of the way towards halfway through the comics' opener.
The "Superbastards" animated series was excellent though. (Animation really should be the way to go with these things)

Re: MARVEL's What If...? (spoilers possible)

The finale: 1. It really annoys that the infinity gauntlet working/not working between universes is inconsistant. (The comics addressed this also - there, infinity gems only work in their own universe. Thus solving the question of "Why haven't we seen Thanos/Doom take over the multiverse")...

I really felt like not enough was done to: 1. Show Abuella pressuring others, not just wassername the main. (Sing, don't show = as bad as "tell, don't show"). (Sorry, a 0.1 second of her straightening hair flowers is not enough) 2. Comeuppance for Abuella's gaslighting. I did read people f...

Re: BBC America Greenlights "CSI: Ankh-Morpork"

Hogfather is amazing, and I am not at all ashamed to say, I actually prefer the MOVIE to the book. The pacing works and feels so much more fluid, and there are two key moments with DEATH as the Hogfather that got swapped around that I think add a lot more weight and emotion to those moments. Heresy...

Re: THE OotS Thread, Part V

I reread some old "issues" lately (blame tv tropes), and it is crazy to think that the first fight with Xylon was around ~100 issues in, and Azure city around 2003-2005. The comic has slowed down a fair amount :0 (both plot progression and literal rate of publishing. (Yes I know he had an ...

I should see if the RAM tweaks get me anything. I have it on mostly high, with volumetric clouds, fog and raytrace lighting on medium and DLSS on balanced. (Volumetric clouds and fog are the biggies for performance). I tried the RAM tweak, can't tell if anything changed. That said, the biggies for ...

Re: DC Animated “Justice League Dark: Apokalips War”… and its crushing disappointment. [SPOILERS]

The past couple of years of DC animated movies have just been crushingly "okey-ish". NVM the ones that messed up (e.g. Killing joke, and it's 55% of filler content). The rest have been nice, but just feel like they would have worked out better as multipart JLU episodes (give or take the an...
