Re: Recommend new t.v. shows
Southland doesn't get the love it deserves. Since moving to TNT it's gone from strength to strength. It's high drama, but they get excellent work from their actors.

Re: Recommend new t.v. shows
Burn Notice can go die in a fire. The ongoing plots became so pointless and stupid and recurring (hey look it was actually this guy who burned you!).
Besides some good standalone episodes that series died with the end of the Management plot line.

Re: Finally Malaysia's Parliament dissolved for general elec
Malaysian friends were reporting some very convenient blackouts preventing recounts and other issues. Any formal sources reporting on that?

Re: Recommend new t.v. shows
Girls - definitely has at more seasons coming as one is in production
Archer - still going strong.
Justified - should have another season or two in it.
Sons of Anarchy - has 2 seasons left apparently.
Breaking Bad - only 1 season left, but damnit it's worth it.

Re: It's LOYALTY DAY citizens. Have you been LOYAL today?
Why would anyone think this was the President doing it? It references the act of Congress that created it. Also, I didn't think it was new (had recollections of it in the Bush era), but I also didn't realise it was that old. I thought it was another Patriot Act era bit of nationalism. Still it's a d...

Re: It's LOYALTY DAY citizens. Have you been LOYAL today?
OK, let me get this straight, during the first Red Scare in the twenties they created Loyalty Day to replace May Day in case any Commies got too uppity and brazen or whatever. And as part of it, the President is "requested" to issue a proclamation about it. So it's not new, but that doesn'...

Re: Best anti-piracy measure ever? (Game Dev Tycoon)
It had popped up in my Greenlight queue when I looked in there for the first time in weeks and I went "Oh, Game Dev Story clone, nope." and hadn't had a second thought about it until I saw the news articles a few days later. Seriously though, why is no one making my HUGE SUCCESS MULTI-MILL...

Re: How realistic is an EMP attack on the US (Red Dawn movie
Entire human race held hostage to American pride = go joe! Anyway, who thinks anything about Red Dawn is realistic? Its time people realised that America is just not in peril. Shall we take a stroll down Homefront memory lane? Could a backstory even get more dumb? Yes. http://www.amazon.com/Invasio...

This is enforced pain, probably going to do a "Rapid Deployment" with the Marines, then back to the other guys for Surge, then look at a General War.

Re: Austerity paper got it wrong
Look Zaune, all we have to do is eliminate govt spending (preferably on wasteful social programs) and eliminate minimum wage, OHS and other employment constricting systems until we can begin competing with Asia in manufacturing again.

Re: Stompy Robot Time: Pacific Rim
Man, going with a "sorry, earth is fucked, we've lost" ending would be classic Del Toro. But a big studio release couldn't so that. Unless there's a post credits sequence with super secret base no.2 and in there, ARE EVEN BIGGER ROBBITS.

I really do look forward to there being some long form explanation of what the hell is up with the two man controls.
Or maybe they'll just ignore it entirely, because two man controls are just how things work.

Re: Austerity paper got it wrong
Just wondering, has there been any country in relevant history (past 30 or so years) for whom austerity has actually worked? In the absence of other significant changes to their economy/demographics? Why is it proving to be so popular now? Has it become purely punitive at this point? Surely with co...

Re: Stompy Robot Time: Pacific Rim
So, these giant robots can be ferried by 8 CH-47s? That would make them pretty light wouldn't it? Ignoring that, this movie looks fun. I'm keen to see it and see just how crazy stupid the action in it gets. And then probably scream about how Del Toro had to make this instead of At The Mountains of M...

Re: Thunderbolt Apache Leader LP
OK, mechanical comments: I'm playing pretty safely at the moment and going with a munitions heavy approach which has meant I'm not having to take as many risks - hence only losing one airframe and not taking much damage. However, it's likely that won't last much longer and I'll be having to send in ...

Yeah, I just started a new campaign in a more modern era (http://bbs.stardestroyer.net/viewtopic. ... 4&t=158463) and it's amazing just how dangerous linked aircraft and one's with natural to hit bonuses are.
