Re: Eastern Australia is on Fire
Fire is also occurring elsewhere. Just saw that there is fire on Kangaroo Island as well. That's off the coast of South Australia. We've been getting a fair bit of smoke from that fire here in Adelaide the past few days. We also had a major fire in the Adelaide Hills around Christmas which took out...

Re: 2018 Formula 1 Season
Well done Hamilton. Getting to the point where Schumacher's record is under threat, something I didn't really think possible until this year. Hamilton's already got the pole record, and is only 2 championships and 20 race wins behind. 2 years to go of the current regs, disquiet among Ferrari's engin...

Re: My Rabbit's sick
MaddOctOr was right. My quarantine failed. About a day or two after his post, I noticed swelling around the final rabbit's (Bugsy's) eyes, and she died last night. Lost two of my rabbits a couple years ago to Myxo. Part of how it gets spread it mossie bites, so unless you keep the uninfected rabbit...

Man what a race and what a win by Ricciardo and Red Bull. Great call on the tires and pit crew double stacking the cars twice!

Re: 2018 Formula 1 Season
I will also allow myself a glimmer of hope that the Merc has a failing--it's not good in traffic. Correction - it's not good in traffic at Melbourne , which applies to every car on the grid. Yep there was very little overtaking at Melbourne - but I don't think it's down to just the track.I personal...

Re: 2018 Formula 1 Season
So Hamilton took pole by .6 but Vettel and Verstappen had mistakes on their best runs which cost them around .2-.3. I think this race is going to be tighter than quali looks with Merc having issues getting the Ultrasofts to last in practice.

Saw the midnight screening.
Ugh.
Horrible movie. I personally rate TPM better. Title says spoilers but I wont go into details unless someone wants them just in case.

Re: 2017 Formula 1 season
Red Bull have really stepped up in the past few races. If Renault can improve the engine for next year like they are saying they can it should be a good title fight, and hopefully McLaren can drop in on the action too with their Renault switch.

Re: 2017 Formula 1 season
Another mechanical screwup for Ferrari and now it is basically all over. Poor Vettel
Hamilton would need to double-dnf in the next few races to bring Vettel back into it.

Re: 2017 Formula 1 season
Hamilton has a 34 points lead. Unless he crashes out two races there is no way that Vettel will catch him. 34 point lead. 5 races to go. 7 point difference between 1st and 2nd. 5 x 7 = 35. Therefore Vettel can still win even without a Hamilton DNF. Add Raikkonen and the Red Bulls looking like they ...

Re: 2017 Formula 1 season
Well its definitely looking that Ferrari have the better car at the moment. Excellent recovery drive from Vettel to finish 4th. Season isn't over yet. Better car and they still can't touch the mercs in quali? Did you watch the past couple races or are you being deliberately ignorant? Singapore: Vet...

I think because of the narrowness of the bridge they had to wait for the cars to all bunch up to make it safe to get the recovery vehicle/staff out there.SpottedKitty wrote: ↑2017-09-17 06:16pmAnyone know what took so long to get Ericsson's car out of there? Are the wreck recovery procedures as good as they could be?

Re: 2017 Formula 1 season
Well what should have been a triumphant race for Ferrari starts with Vettel bottling it. I agree with Brundle that Vettel was more to blame for that crash.
Hamilton with one hand on the championship - but still 6 races with only a 28 point lead.

Re: 2017 Formula 1 season
Amazing qualifying performance from Hamilton and dominant performance from the Mercs in the race. Singapore should be a turn around for Ferrari so tight race to the season finale. And apparently they (Merc) can continue to use their current-rate oil-burn ICE, since they introduced the 4th one this w...

Not being fully up with dry-berthing: if the hull is in such a bad spot that you are pumping out 300,000 gallons (if my maths is right 1.1 million litres/1100 tons of water) a day ... then what is the structural integrity of the rest of the thing? Keel, beams, frames, decks, etc. From what I can tel...

Re: 2017 Formula 1 season
Finishing 2.5 seconds while being on the faster tires does not mean a car is faster, quite the opposite really. Quali does not matter. Race performance does and Vettel never caught Hamilton or pulled of an overtake. The Ultra is only really quicker for 2-3 laps before its edge wears off. As expecte...

Re: 2017 Formula 1 season
Spa just showed what I thought to be true, that Mercedes is so far ahead in its car development it is not even funny. I don't think that's the case at all. Even with Hamilton's "mighty lap" in quali Vettel was only .2 behind. Post-race comments from both Merc and Ferrari seem to indicate ...

Tense few laps after the safety car there in Spa. When I saw Hamilton on the Softs after the last pitstop I was sure that Vettel on the ultras would breeze past.
