Re: NHL 2008/2009 Season

The Sharks just suffered what is, in some ways, a heartbreaking defeat. While dishing out 57 shots, the Sharks lose to the rival Preds, thanks in no small part (ok, thanks entirely ) to Dan Ellis, who seemed hell-bent on vindicating the Preds bosses on their shedding Mason. A franchise record for sh...

Re: Warhammer Online

I have to agree with Charlemagne, this is not a very good looking game. Textures are uninspired, npc models range from pretty good to fucking horrible (have you seen a "tiger" ), and the visuals in general are quite buggy (spell effects [really, really, really annoying ones] persisti...

Re: US Election 2008 Results Thread

For that matter, it does show the biggest problem with allowing Hispanic immigration. And the alternative would be ... not allowing "Hispanic immigration"? We should screen immigrants based on their ethnicity? Most of them are rabid Catholics, and we don't need more of those if America is...

Re: Free Burrito at Chipotle

Chipotle is hella easy to get free food from. If you call in an order and then go to pick it up, they give you yours (the guy who went to pick it up) free, for picking up your friend's food. If you wait too long in line they'll give you a free drink.

Re: Gov to GM: Merger, huh? How about 'No'? Wanna try 'No'?

So basically, the Germans ruined Chrysler, and Rob Eaton should burn in hell for selling it to them. Ok, that makes sense, but then still, if the Germans couldn't handle Chrysler when they were good, why should the government give GM money to try to handle Chrysler while they're bad? I'd say bailin...

Re: Gov to GM: Merger, huh? How about 'No'? Wanna try 'No'?

I don't know much about the auto industry so I may be wrong, but it seems to me that this is a good move by the government. If Daimler couldn't make anything off of Chrysler, why would we think GM could, when they can't even come up with the cash for the buyout themselves? Wouldn't it be cheaper to ...

Re: Towards an intersectionality of Atheism and Race

Lots of good points made in the thread, but the thing that struck me when reading the OP re: atheists teaming up with non-white Christian non-atheists was that that would be pretty offensive to those non-white Christian non-atheists. Seriously, it smacks of arrogance to crow about how progressive an...

Re: California might get an independent re-districting committee

Pretty sure I'll be voting for this, but I'm gonna vote this Wednesday, so I'll do all my final research then. Although I haven't read all the nitty-gritty details, I think I preferred the previous redistricting measure that was offered (and failed) as its panel of redistricters was made up of some ...

Re: Warhammer Online

Playing WoW I'm having issues with the overwhelming Alliance majority on my realm, and from what I've read here, faction imbalances are not alien to WAR. I just wonder why don't they implement some faction-balancing mechanism? I don't know, but faction imbalance is a big problem. Order is outnumber...

See, the problem with wanting it to be Stranglethorn is that people are dicks . Did you ever DO STV? 'Oh, look, here comes ANOTHER group of bored seventies with murder in their eyes, good thing I learned to bring my own lube now.' That was part of the beauty of STV (and pvp servers in general in Wo...

Re: Warhammer Online

I guess that's true re: open rvr and normal servers, but that doesn't really solve the problem of not having any real world pvp. The problem with the lakes is that there are uninteresting objectives (spend hella days clicking on a ram until the door breaks, omg how fun) and a bunch of stupid npcs ru...

Re: Warhammer Online

While I'm still generally enjoying the game, here are some gripes off the top of my head: World pvp sucks. If you go to the rvr areas, you can sometimes find some opponents, but the objectives are very boring and the keep lord encounters are slightly less boring. When there are a lot of guys there i...

Granted that's a pretty fluky goal, but I doubt very much that the Ducks got no fluky goals last season. I mean I know you guys were tied for third worst in the league in scoring, but at least one of those had to have been a crazy one, right?

Re: The cop cycles here are changing

One of the departments in the South Bay switched to BMWs complaining about the reliability and cost of the Harleys. That was like ten years ago, they're still with the BMWs. I've seen a few SJPD cops on dirt bikes with police livery, but it's certainly not the standard. The ratio of motorcycle cops ...

Re: Warhammer Online

You say 'Bright Wizard zerg' as if the roving death-packs of Marauders were anything different. :P It seems to me from reading this thread that WAR hasn't yet reached the point where strategy and tactics are uniform across all servers (not that that's a bad thing). For example, on my server (Wolfen...

It isn't public knowledge; the frames this celebrity is famous for wearing aren't even the ones they got at Costco. As I understand it, protected health information includes information about the provision of health care, meaning that if someone got glasses at Costco, i.e. we provided them with heal...

Potential HIPAA Violation

So I'm an optician, I work at the dispensary in a Costco. Costco just recently held it's annual conference of optical managers, where they do business conferencey things. My manager gets back with a bunch of notes and info to disseminate to us. The one thing that caught my attention was this: there ...

Re: Warhammer Online

Yeah, I guess PQs aren't working like they wanted, because pretty much most people just go around solo and grind out the first stage of a PQ and then leave when the champions come. A few PQs get run regularly by pugs, but only a very few. I think they should increase the quality of the PQ loot; most...

Re: Warhammer Online

I've resigned to accepting Tor Anroc. It's still a horrible scenario, but once we got a better handle on the strategy and not just the tactics, it's playable, although Order's knockbacks are still imba. The thing about it that's pissing me off now is clicking on the damn flag. Half the time you clic...

Ok, seriously, wtf is up with Tor Anroc? Nobody queues for anything else in t3, and it's not like in t2 where everybody queued only for Mourkain because it was cool and the others were wack, but Tor Anroc is fucking stupid. I hope the other t3 bgs aren't that bad, but I wouldn't know, I've only ever...

Re: City/Hero Swap Challenge

I think the problem with the Cap/Batman xover is that they're not really good analogues. Yeah whenever they do an official mashup they square off, because they're both popular and they both fight hand to hand, and the edge Cap has in physicality Batman makes up for in wanking. Cap is disadvantaged h...
