Re: So what did I miss in the last JESUS CHRIST SEVEN YEARS

You've been through it all, I think that could get to anyone. It's been a rough 7 years. :( I am sorry for your loss. SirNitram was a dick in the best possible way and he went far before his time. ast seven years...? Huh. Well, on a personal level my father, two nephews, and my husband died and I l...

So what did I miss in the last JESUS CHRIST SEVEN YEARS

Hello. I'm Bounty. You may remember me from such topics as Star Trek, Testing shenanigans and an interest in computers. tl;dr I bailed SDN right around the time I got properly diagnosed with a crippling panic disorder, got medicated, got a new degree, moved to China for a bit, came back, fell up the...

Re: [Doctor Who] S33E13 The Name of the Doctor [SPOILERS]

However, prepare for more River Song. As she said, how was she able to keep the connection if Clara was dead? That means she has figured out how to transpose her essence out of the mainframe and across space and time. No, she kept the connection because Clara was still alive somewhere. I'm pretty s...

10 dead, 35+ wounded at Batman premiere shooting

More than 35 people had been injured in the incident, it is reported. A reporter for the 9News website at the scene says a gunman opened f...

Re: Breaking: Attack in Belgium

It could, horrificly, have been worse - the last time the shooter was arrested the police found multiple machine guns and RPG's in his home. He was currently released under supervision following time in prison for operating a weed plantation and the guns, after getting a probational sentence for rap...

It'd be cynical if they were the ones to come up with the idea, but it was a friend of the deceased kid who called them. So yea, it's free publicity, but that doesn't make it less nice.

I first ran Windows 7 on a P4 with 768MB RAM, and it was a definite upgrade over XP. If you turn off the visual doodads it'll run smooth as butter.

Yeah, yeah, I know. And made by a German guy , as well. Hard drive has now failed entirely. May all have been a coincidence, but asks the follow up question: why does my PC keep killing HDDs? That's the third one in the last few months!!! When you say 'killed' do you mean, physically wrecked (ie, c...

Re: Oh god what have I done(PC issues)

What's the 'fix'?

Does your PC also run slow in safe mode?

Anything fishy under Services or in your startup items?

Is everything on the PC backed up in case you need to do a format and reinstall?

Star Trek: Online goes free-to-play

In a move that nobody didn't see coming, STO will be going free-to-play 'later this year'. I really enjoyed the beta but didn't feel the game was worth the money of a subscription; but if it's free I'm definitely going back in. It's a nice timewaster, especially if you have a group to play with.

Re: Burger King Dumps The Creepy King

I've eaten at McDo a few times the past month (temp contract in the city, short lunch breaks, pants don't quite fity any more). Anyway, they now have something called a 1955 burger , and you know what? Best damn burger I've ever had at McDo. It actually tastes of meat, for starters. About the only t...

LEGO Star Wars: The Padawan Menace

Has anyone watched this? It's a CN special, a CGI cartoon à la the Lego Star Wars cutscenes, and it's freakin' hilarious. Whoever made this is clearly a Star Wars nut because it's chock full of blink-and you'll-miss-it gags that'd fly right over a kid's head. Animation and voice acting is pretty swe...

Re: Saab is bankrupt

I don't know what are they counting on. Their only chance is to find a company like GM. Or produce a car that will literally sell like fresh cookies. They just have a GM-based SUV out, one that didn't get hit by the production shutdown since it's made in Mexico, so they may be counting on that to p...

Re: Saab is bankrupt

Since there seems to be money in premium superminis, I was thinking it could be very cool if someone bought the Saab brand, licenses the Panda platform and the TwinAir, then brings back a two-door, two-cylinder, FWD Saab sedan à la the 92.

Too bad it won't happen now.

Re: Saab is bankrupt

Yeah, Spyker got in way over their heads. They should have stuck with making cool sportscars rather than try to break into the mainstream market. And this is a damn shame for Saab, both as a company and for its employees. A manufacturer with such a great history and back catalog shouldn't rot away l...

Re: Microsoft lied, the horror

I'm not really seeing "the horror" here, or the lies. Microsoft is still offering oodles of support to PC gaming even if they're not developing the games themselves, and it doesn't make any sense for them to port their titles to the PC when they're pushing the 360 as the go-to platform for...

Re: Doctor Who S32E4, "The Doctor's Wife" [spoilers]

Great episode. Funny, cool villain, neat concept and so full of continuity porn it ached without becoming obnoxiously self-referential. I wish they'd been able to keep 'Idris' - maybe as a hologram? - because the dialog would've been golde, but I suppose the ending with the lever worked just as well.

Re: Doctor Who S32E2, "Day of the Moon" [spoilers]

Right so we're supposed to think the Doctor knocked up Amy under the silences orders. Only eventually it'll turn out to be for some other reason. This is getting worse and worse. Doctor/Amy/Rory triangle was always the worst part of last season. And you know this how? I thought the episode was awes...
