Re: Something big
It's a neglected design that I always like for some reason, but the purpose of this ship has always been a bit fuzzy to me. It's always struck me as a versatile small frigate that can operate independently or as a screening ship in fleets. Maybe even a light carrier with that hanger space. Could se...

Thank you. It's awful. It's like they took a concept sketch from pre and didn't change a damn thing going into post.fractalsponge1 wrote: ↑2017-08-24 11:33am
I HATE that thing. So much that I think there will be a very long rant incoming about it once I get the time to get it on paper.

Re: Something big
Somewhat reminds me of Tagge's battlecruiser, even though it is clearly a different design. It does fit the "retro comic feel". One thing that strikes me as odd is the notable asymmetry. Can you explain what you mean? Not seeing a lot of asymmetry. The parts of the center line that are mi...

Stunning as always! Would love a size lineup of your bigger ships. Maybe ISD on up. The Allegiance on down through corvettes was a great visualizer!

Re: Something big
How many points of delivery does that transport have? Front door, back door, ventral and dorsal docking rings. Are those also doors on the side?
Are those weapons towards the bow of the ship laser cannon or torpedo tubes? Either way this thing packs a punch.

Re: Ep7 Reviews (Spoilers)
Abrams isn't good at portraying visual scale of heavenly bodies from the ground. He did the same thing (but worse IMO) in Star Trek with Spock viewing the implosion of Vulcan from that ice planet. It doesn't make any sense, and the visibility of the StarKiller attack was probably my biggest VFX prob...

Re: TFA novelization stuff
That little raid on Jakku was Finn's first battle, wasn't it? Maybe he his day-to-day duty on Starkiller Base really was acting as a sanitation worker in full stormtrooper armor. Also possible that the First Order military is heavy on drills and training but not very battle-hardened. During ostensi...

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens
Seems like a classic proxy war to me. The Republic either can't or won't take on the First Order directly, so they've set up (or Leia split off on her own to set up) a Resistence within First Order territory that received surreptitious financial and/or military support from the Republic to fuck up F...

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens
tbh ANH was rather small too and the universe didn't really open until ESB, ROTJ and the old EU. Did the universe really open all that much in the original trilogy? I'm seeing a lot of criticism in the spoiler thread calling out a lack of world building and exposition. But Star Wars never really di...

Vox.com's series of articles on the politics of Star Wars
Haven't been vocal on here in years, but I thought this Vox.com series of articles was worth sharing with the crowd. A quick glance didn't reveal their having been shared already. The Star Wars Galactic Senate needed a minority party The problem with the Galactic Republic was the Jedi Discuss, revel...

I am going to say that of all the legal systems I have learned about and/or worked in, the US system takes the cake for stupidity and incompetence. Now, would anybody else like to nitpick this or can we continue about how utterly corrupt this ... person must have been and how utterly inept the supe...

^ Anakin said to the wife that "someone made [him] the bomb." She wouldn't have had the context clues to know they meant he was physically the bomb. They specifically reference this in the "trivia" notes for the episode.

Re: Atmospheric Fighters
You do seem to have answered your own question referencing the T-47s. Armed airspeeders can certainly fill the role of a fighter in an atmosphere. Starfighters are also frequently shown in the films, tv, and EU books to be used within atmospheres for combat.

While I agree that dinosaurs are not very comparable to modern reptiles, I am curious to go back the original point about domestication. Is there any evidence that humans domesticated any animals in as short a time as ten years? If not, then it's perfectly reasonable for the Terra Novans not to have...

I don't know how it works, but it always struck me as something that ought to be used on land for demolitions or destroying armies or causing temblors, given the horizontal detonation. I figured Jango used them in space against Obi-wan for the "OMG" factor.

Latest episode addresses the fence issue people were talking about after the pilot. The perimeter mines have been mentioned before but this episode explicitly states that it is those mines which keep out the "local wildlife" and with those out of commission, they're essentially sitting duc...

Re: Could the Old Republic have survived without the Clones?
Why couldn't the Republic have made it's own droid army rapidly to counter the CIS? EDIT: Of course, They will ultimately lose out on the initial offensive that the clones provided them after Geonosis; catching the CIS more or less flat-footed and immediately forcing them to react to the sudden appe...

Also it seems to imply that they can grow clones much faster than AOTC indicated (10 years). Unless either a) they're anticipating the war lasting at least 10 more years (unlikely given the reasonably popular sentiment to END the war) or b) the Kaminoans have grown a significant number of clones to ...

I agree this was a poor episode, and another instance of the wild characterization of the Duchess. Threatening the Superintendent with torture? Destroying evidence in a corruption investigation? Isn't she on the side AGAINST the corruption? Also...isn't she a pacifist? While it was nice of them to h...
