Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens
It's not a paradox that he managed to channel Star Wars since he has admitted several times that when he was making Star Trek he really wanted to be making Star Wars.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens
I enjoyed TFA and would rank it somewhere around ROTJ. It succeeded in making me like the new generation of characters and I think that's really important for the project of, for lack of a better term, rehabilitating Star Wars. I did think that it made the Star Wars Universe seem smaller and I think...

Re: Assassin's Creed III
It's probably too early to tell but it does seem less involved in magic gimics. I don't know if that's reflected in ACIII or just in the Vita Version. Liberations also does away with the Framing story almost entirely. The conciet is that it is a commerical entertainment release of the Animus technol...

Re: Assassin's Creed III
I haven't had the opportunity to start my copy of 3 yet but I'm hoping to get to it over this weekend. What I have been doing is playing Assassin's Creed III Liberation on the Vita. There is no chance of a thread about that game going anywhere so I'm going to post some impressions here. I'm about 2 ...

Stark, you mentioned console. Are you playing the Xbox 360 version?
Has anyone else noticed differences vis a vis enemy behavior based on platform?

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic (The Thread)
Ok, I think I made a mistake here. I'm a level 12 Smuggler (Scoundrel) and my gf is a Level 11 Jedi Sentinel (I think sentinel, whichever one has 2 lightsabers) and we just can not beat the first flashpoint (Eselles). Do we just suck or did I pick a crap class specialization?

Re: Jim C. Hines "Princess" novel series
I took a look at this yesterday on your recommendation and have decided to give the first book a try when I finish my current pile. I could not remember the full title or author this morning so I did a search on Amazon for "stepsister" because I remembered that being in the title. This was...

I have a copy of Left 4 Dead (the first one) which I already own. I will trade it for a game I don't have or some coal if anyone wants it.

Board Game Gift Ideas, Help!
Hello all, A friend of mine has decided he wants a board game for Christmas. He is a fan of games like Acension and Descent, but wants something that can be played in about an hour. He's also looking for something that can be played by 2 players and will be approachable enough that his non-supergeek...

Re: SKYRIM: Let's kill some Dragons!
Interesting, the quest objective glitched for me and only gave me the marker for the mage so I went back to him the first time I tried the quest. Then I went back and reloaded because I wanted the Priestess as a follower and finished the quest with her. I did not realize choosing one side or the oth...

Re: SKYRIM: Let's kill some Dragons!
I have been playing pure mage since the sneak mage build I was trying out wasn't really going anywhere. Anyway, I am trying to get my Enchanting up to 100 for broken free destruction magic. I have a question about Azura's Star which I'm hoping to use to get my Enchant skill up. I have read a few pla...

Re: If you were a Jumper...
Regarding abilities, we see a side character transport a doubledecker bus and the main character transport a portion of a house, 1 room I think. This is presented as being the upper limit of stuff you can take and is difficult. I don't think we ever see a distance limit presented but their jumping i...

SKYRIM: Let's kill some Dragons!
So The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim comes out in the States tomorrow. I know of a few places that are doing midnight launches tonight. IGN has given it the expected 9.5 tongue bath but do admit that it is glitchy and the NPCs still talk like mannequins. I'm on the fence but a few of the changes from Obli...

Re: The Fruits of My Labors - Finally got a new handheld
Good call on the PSP if you are (obviously) a jrpg fan. At this point in the life cycle there are a ton of great games for the system. Aside from the Final Fantasy and Kindgom Hearts stuff you have picked up I can recommend Tactics Ogre and the 2 Disgaea ports. Both Disgaea ports added a huge amount...

Re: Outlander (2008 film)
I grabbed the DVD when it came out and thought it was a lot of fun. Also, I thought the story and exposition was pretty strightforward so I'm not sure why you're confused about that. I thought the ending was a bit silly but I thought the creature was cool and the nightime raid on the Viking village ...

As opposed to the Mobile Dolls in Gundam Wing, which were used to address taking the humanity out of war. And to sell plastic toys to Japanese kids and American nerds.
