Re: How good is the Bat'leth as a melee weapon?

Actually bat'leth being weapon that was used only for honor duels actually makes sense, possibly with Bat'leth also being a symbol for status of "warrior". So when ranged weapons became more common most melee weapons stopped being used but Bat'leth remained as you can't use your disruptor...

Re: Star Trek Fascist

Note the video maker's point at the end, that you should question who presents you the facts, IE that he's lying through his teeth. MatPat is a comedic persona and his theories more often than not are silly. Ah, like when he completely misinterpreted a TINY MINORITY of Renaissance daggers and calle...

Re: Applications of Federation tech in the Star Wras?

Well, we certainly see Star Trek medical tech. doing things that Star Wars tech. doesn't duplicate in the films, at least. Has Star Wars tech. ever casually changed someone's species? Created holographic organs when a transplant wasn't available? Personally I think that they can casually change som...

Re: Applications of Federation tech in the Star Wras?

I feel the UT would be used. It's obviously much more portable than a protocol droid, as you can stick it just about anywhere. Holodeck-technology(with those potentially fatal bugs worked out) would be used for both R&R and combat training, as literally any terrain, enemy and scenario could be p...

Applications of Federation tech in the Star Wras?

What it says on the tin. What Star Trek tech would be adopted by those living in the Empire? Civilian? Military?

Re: Thrawn - a new novel by TIM ZAHN coming 2017

Would be interesting if Rey's mother is still alive, though they'd need a pretty good explanation for why she never came back for her daughter. Prisoner, maybe? Here's an interesting thought: If Mara, or a character similar to Mara (like Kylo Ren is not quite Jacen Solo) is Rey's mother, and left h...

Re: Episode 8 wish list

What things do you really want to see in Episode 8? Personally, I'd want to see an actual galactic scale battle. Fleets of dreadnaughts duking it out. 1. Kylo at full gear ripping some nobody Republic/Resistance troops a new... "hole to excrete bodily waste". 2. A montage of Luke training...

Re: Varon-T Disruptor

In the TNG episode"The Most Toys", Rivas Fajo has four of the five Varon-T Disruptor prototypes. These weapons were made illegal in the Federation due to how cruelly they kill their target. Why would such a weapon be made by someone in the UFP? Or was it a side effect of research into som...

I write on fanfiction.net but none of you would likely appreciate my stories. I'm kinda shitty. :banghead: I can however share a few interesting ones. 1) "New Beginnings", a crossover of Star Wars and Mass Effect involving a pre-mindwipe Revan: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9860931/1/New-Be...

Re: Have Trekkies used these arguments?

So there there are two idiotic Trekkie arguments that I suspect some dye hard Trekkies think but I haven't really seen argued on this forum or others. They more or less sound like this. • Land armies in Star Trek are obsolete because Phasers are so super duper more powerful than boasters that one g...

Re: Tactics Scenario: Theft above Vari IV

That's definitely one way to go. I think I would adopt a slightly less, um, genocidal approach. chase down the captured ships, drag them out of hyperspace with the Interdictor, and destroy them. A single ISD-II, a VSD-II and another light SD, all of which are barely finished, with no fighters and s...

Tactics Scenario: Theft above Vari IV

The shipyards above the fourth moon of the gas giant Vari were infiltrated by Federation commandos, who were able to disable the facility's security systems, after which a Starfleet, eh, starfleet( :? ), that had been sitting in a relatively stable asteroid field to avoid detection, swooped in, and ...
