Re: Does Dark Matter Really Exist?

I'm involved in a discussion on another forum concerning dark matter, and one of the posters there is very skeptical of it's existance, comparing it to the celestial spheres of geocentric cosmology or the epicycles of Ptolemaic astronomy. She does not seem as critical of alternatives like MOND, eve...

One question, and I don't recall if anyone has asked it before: does Jesus have any significance in this cosmology? Was he actually one of Yahweh's minions, sent in an attempt to deceive the humans into millennia of worship, or was he just some crazy guy in Jerusalem? Same question applies to Moham...

No, they don't... light cannot escape the event horizon.

There might be some problems with the pressure inside his bubble too. Because of the similar temperature the chance per second that an air molecule is moved through the bubble should be similar (without any wind), but time is moving faster outside than inside... I'm not completely sure about this, b...

Anti-matter generally won't explode if the ratio of matter/anti is different from 1:1, rather radiation scouring would be more problematic. If you have more matter than antimatter in the container the antimatter part will detonate with the same amount of matter... if it's the other way around you g...

If the range of BSG weapons is below 1000 (or even 10000) km the HH side will just close the distance and kill the opponents with beam weapons... after spending a few missiles volleys and see their opponent jump away.

if the BSG side always run away they cannot win.

You can easily use UDP through a NAT...
the problem is not TCP/UDP, but Client/Server...

The server side of a connection cannot be hidden under a NAT because the Client has to know the Port number to access the server (it could be done with some kind of central server).

Also the kinetic defense of the Honorverse is much better than the defense against energy weapons. Even their particle shield (inferior to the sidewall) can stop KE impacts up to two gigatons energy. The sidewall is nearly immune to KE impacts (unless your sidewall penetrator is working) and the wed...

The majority of the Candless blast, IIRC, hit the widewall/wedge, only small portions of the energy actually struck "at" the ship directly (or rather at the partticle/radiation shields.) The distance as noted further offsets that. I'm not sure if the Candless even has sidewalls... and the...

The rest of the world will just shoot down the "stealthy" F22 with missiles with better sensors... or hunt them with radar systems capable detecting planes like this.

Dogfighting is a "no brainer" because of the quality of missiles today, and it will stay like this.

The "alchemist" from Hammiltons Nightsdawn triology was nice too. A small mechanism that can create a permanent gravity source... either (weak setting) crushing anything near it into neutronium or (strong setting) creating a miniature black hole. Perfect to vanish a large planet or a sun.....
