Re: Resource War

...to say nothing, of course, of the Empire asteroid vaping scene, in which we see firepower millions of times in excess of "Zero Hour" from guns which are absolutely tiny compared to the heaviest guns on a Star Destroyer. Maybe it's discordant with a strict interpretation of the current c...

Re: Resource War

Earth/Moon from Mars is, as someone earlier pointed out, and average of 225 million km, or 1.5 AU. The rest of the solar system can be up to 40 AU (out to Pluto, off the top of my head). The outer limits are thousands of AU from Mars. You can't say that a jump of 26 times the range (low end, to Plu...

Re: How did the AT AT's breach the shield

Texan, I agree with some of what you're saying, but Curtis never had any interest in versus debates, and he certainly didn't derive figures for ICS books just to see Wars "win" against other franchises. I could go into much more detail about this; suffice to say, the people (person?) who t...

Fallout 4 Xbone issue

Hiya all. I've owned a copy of Fallout 4 on the Xbox One since shortly after its release. I didn't get to play it in earnest until nine months (?) or so ago, during which time my fiancé, Tammy, and I tore into it, bought most of the dlc, etc. We reached a ridiculously high level and only had a few a...

(Alderaan is the main weapons supplier for the Rebellion? I'd like a source for that...a handful of corvettes hardly makes them Space Boeing .) its in the novelization. in fact, its the next line after vaders "defense system" line. stated by tarkin in the novel "Now that their main s...

Re: Spacedocks take on the versus debate

Texan, Just a few things: *You wouldn't dispute that the Death Star circumnavigated a tremendous distance in thirty minutes, would you? It had to be accelerating alike crazy to go around a gas giant that quickly. *Further, I don't agree that the Cesna/747 analogy is applicable. The latter is several...

Khatt,

Good point.

I've rewatched my BR a few times, and it does *look like* the shield is up when the DS creams Scarif. Brian thought so, too. But he and I could easily be wrong on that count :?:

Re: How did the AT AT's breach the shield

Texan, You're arguing with several people in separate threads as-is, so I'm not going to dogpile you. However, no one has addressed the following point, and since you've mentioned it at least twice, you seem to think it is especially germane to the Alderman shield question: either one supports me. t...

Re: Phasers & photons vs shields & hull.

You're right, Generations did recycle a shot or two from TUC. Hmm, I wonder if the Dominion War had any phaser fire against cloaked Jem'Hadar ships... it strikes me that something like the 'antimatter barrage' from Best of Both Worlds might be one way to expose cloaked ships, at least within close ...

Very true. Plus, IIRC, Sidious got his master drunk as well.

Re: General Empire vs Borg musings

Also, another matter- there's more crates and barrels around. Heh, I thought about mentioning that. It's very clear in the second image I posted. As you say, we don't see folks simply cowering behind one human-sized barrelful of tullaberry wine (or those self-sealing stem bolts we heard so much abo...

Re: General Empire vs Borg musings

I would like actual examples of characters using packing crates for cover. It does happen, but I see a lot of innuendo and little if any math in this thread to prove crates are shit (to say nothing of how tangential packing crates are to the issue at hand: Borg drones' shield resilience). I watched ...

Re: General Empire vs Borg musings

I certainly agree that, when the crates are used for cover, the people using them as such should expect decent, if not complete, protection from even high-powered phaser/analogue fire. They're smart enough to know that if the enemy could remove (or severely damage) that cover, they'd do so -- and vi...

Re: General Empire vs Borg musings

Unsure. What is canon, and has been declared ex-cathedra by Pablo - now that he can do that - and put in reference books again, is the much smaller size of the DS2, not reflective of the numbers on SDN's main site. The 160 and 900 km sizes are being considered an effects glich - for instance a 120 ...

I like it, and you, for that matter. Nonetheless, while I gather you are a dual citizen of the U.S. and Canada (unless I've confused you with someone else), if your native tongue is French, your English is remarkable -- save something Phred pointed out earlier: differentiating between the proper use...

the Dreadnaught was huge for an unmanned ship, I'd say based on it's relative size compared to Voyager it's at least as big as a Runabout if not bigger. Oop! I missed your reply, Revan -- apologies. The Cardie missile was indeed quite big. If memory serves, it would actually dwarf a Runabout. I'm t...

Ok so I'm realy sorry for this long response time. At 3:47 of the second video it fires several projectile shots that hit dead-on (on ships that look to me like they've lost shields), these are the same weapons that are used to kill the three jupiter defense units in rapid succession. Those would b...

their stormtrooper armour is better No it isn't, it's a lot worse. OT stormie armour could stand up to hard vacuum (i.e. the two guys hanging around outside while the Falcon was pulled into the Death Star). Finn explicitly stated that FO stormie armour is vulnerable to certain types of chemical wea...

Re: How good is the Bat'leth as a melee weapon?

More like using an ancestral weapon, or a replica of a legendary sword like Excalibur, Durandal, Masamune, etc. The bat'leth is explicitly a reproduction of the sword of Kahless, and we know for a fact that the Klingons have a number of different sword designs available to them, including the one D...

It may have even been a stipulation of Fisher's contract. She was already signed to do all three movies so I doubt her estate would really have much of a problem with it. It's possible that the Guardians of the Whills are Force-sensitive, but not enough to qualify for Jedi training so those who desire to serve the Order have a chance to do so in other ways. Well put, m'lord. (To avoid any confusion, I have long lobbied to cement my Deception identity here as G1 Sunb...
