Re: Star Wars: Rebels

Too bad the showrunners didn't seize this opportunity to cripple the rebel fleet even more by destroying their one and only Mon Cal cruiser. That would explain why the Profundity was the only cruiser present at the Battle of Scarif. I hope Admiral Raddus gets some development next season. It would g...

Re: Star Wars: Rebels

They DID establish Thrawn being good at fighting rather it coming out of the blue, even though I agree it is an overall needless addition to his character. This was established in the old EU. Prior to his adventures as a front-line stormtrooper and impersonating Jodo Kast, he went all John Rambo on...

Re: Star Wars: Rebels

I will admit that I thought it was a mistake making Thrawn a grand admiral, but maybe they thought he'd be unrecognizable without his white uniform.

Re: Star Wars: Rebels

Too bad Disney didn't buy Lucasfilm and trash the old EU sooner or else we may have seen Thrawn as far back as the Clone Wars, during which he would have had plenty of opportunities to show us his stuff. They could have re-imagined his origin as a brilliant separatist commander who consistently defe...

Re: Star Wars: Rebels

Also noteworthy: Thrawn apparently answers to Tarkin as well. that was established in the first episode here when Pryce requests the 7th fleet and Tarkin has him assigned to Lothal. Okay, but this is the first time I can recall seeing anyone giving Thrawn an order to his face. As for the lack of th...

Re: Star Wars: Rebels

Did anyone really think Thrawn would end up wiping out the rebels? Perhaps if General Dodonna wasn't there and if this was the series finale, maybe.

Re: Star Wars: Rebels

I don't get the outrage with this episode. Thrawn handed the rebels a costly defeat and probably would have taken them all prisoner if not for Konstantine's insubordination and Bendu's intervention.

Also noteworthy: Thrawn apparently answers to Tarkin as well.

Re: Imperial Rank Insignia Discussion

Krennic had six red squares when he was still just a (lieutenant?) commander (in Jyn's flashback of her family when they were living on Coruscant).

Or he was too busy getting shot at by and fighting against multiple rebel soldiers to concentrate on snatching the data tape, assuming he even saw it at all. It's possible he was just chasing everyone who was running away to prevent anyone from escaping, period. If you want to get really technical i...

In all fairness, Vader did telekinetically snatch Han's blaster out of his hand pretty easily while Han was shooting him.

Do we know when the Tantive IV docked with the Profundity? Perhaps it only did so after the bigger ship was disabled for the purpose of making a clean escape with the plans.

Re: Everything Not Quite Right With - The End Scenes from Rogue One SPOILERS and yes its contains the Vader scene!

We see Vader's stormtroopers filing in behind him after the Tantive IV launches. There were maybe four of them, which isn't much against a Mon Cal cruiser full of rebel soldiers. I'd assume that any others were mopping up throughout the rest of the ship. Either way, Vader clearly thought this was a ...

Re: Everything Not Quite Right With - The End Scenes from Rogue One SPOILERS and yes its contains the Vader scene!

2) Vader going to town at the end of Rogue One was "out of character" because ANH, he let the stormtroopers lead the assault on the Tantive IV , and the ESB, rebel base on Hoth The Tantive IV was tractored into the Devastator's docking bay, from which the entire ship's complement of storm...

Re: Everything Not Quite Right With - The End Scenes from Rogue One SPOILERS and yes its contains the Vader scene!

I also recommend the Vader Down arc from his comic series. It depicts him as a virtual one-man army who uses the Force as effectively in combat as he does his lightsaber. It's when he's depicted as using only his lightsaber against muggles that it rings false with me.

Re: Everything Not Quite Right With - The End Scenes from Rogue One SPOILERS and yes its contains the Vader scene!

I get the Vader thing. Having once said this: This is why I dislike Vader's overuse of his lightsaber in the EU, new and old. In none of the movies did he ever use it against anyone but other Force users. Everyone else got choked like a bitch. He didn't even need to use his lightsaber to block Han's...

Re: Star Wars: Rebels

I couldn't find a single example of his concept art for the star destroyer besides that one. If it's really for TESB, however, then it shows that McQuarrie's art remained stylistically exaggerated even after the model makers designed the original star destroyer for ANH. ...that doesn't show me how t...
