Re: STGOD 2020 OOC Thread
Hmm. Back to the drawing board. Ever have one of those times when you write up an entire nation that's really fascinating, then realize that you just want it to exist, not to be the one playing it?

Re: STGOD 2020 OOC Thread
There's also a typo in the System Defenses section, which makes the system substantially more confusing than it already is. That means a nation with 100 points in system defenses, with 25 points of planets and 50 points of ships in-system, would have that 100 point fleet plus 12 patrol boats.

Aaah, I see what you're going for with the categories. Might want to separate out categories from list entries from a formatting perspective, there and elsewhere, save others the confusion I just faceplanted into.

Re: STGOD 2020 OOC Thread
Hmm. Just off the cuff, combat turns being roughly an hour long, a fleet taking a day to cross one hex, and that being 12 combat turns makes about as much sense as reactive armor on a football bat. Separately, I'm not seeing anything on what Improved Technology either does specifically , or what it ...

Re: Army called in to tackle rogue drones amid travel chaos at Gatwick Airport
I've seen an alternative system based around drone interceptors proposed - basically just a fast drone designed to crash into and/or grab a drone that isn't where it's supposed to be, then deploy a parachute or something to try and preserve data for investigation. Presumably something like that, wi...

Re: Army called in to tackle rogue drones amid travel chaos at Gatwick Airport
Which is great after the drone has been stopped . It does precisely fuck all to stop the drone in the first place, which is the point I was making in to begin with. Making droning an airport more illegal doesn't stop drones flying over airports, it just lets you fuck people harder after they do it. ...

Re: Army called in to tackle rogue drones amid travel chaos at Gatwick Airport
One problem that emerges in this situation is that some of the most effective means for countering drones (in particular GPS jamming fucks with a lot of them, badly) isn't really something you can get away with at, say, an airport. That said, I'm disappointed that this particular outbreak has reveal...

Re: American missionary tries preaching to natives and killed
To play Devil's Advocate here for a moment, if the occupants of my apartment complex were to loudly proclaim my intent to exterminate any and all people that I perceive existing outside the complex and then carry that out, we would not be quarantined and left alone, we would be thoroughly fucked. We...

Re: Robert Mueller asks FBI to investigate allegations that women were offered money to accuse him of sexual assault.
I fucking called it. Who could have possibly forseen that coming down on alleged abusers pre-trial like a rain of anvils would produce an environment wherein that tendency is used as an attack vector? I'll grant that I didn't expect something this high-profile and ambitious, but...seriously who didn...

Re: Nigel Farage says Jews are as big a threat as Russian interference.
Moving on from the question of what to call Farage, we also arrive at a somewhat troublesome contradiction. It's very hard to occupy the 'fuck's sake, I wish the US would stop covering for all the shit Israel gets up to' position while at the same time condemning the 'the Jewish lobby holds way too ...

Re: "Child Migrant camps Not Nazi-style"
Serious question for you, what sorts of 'actions' that aren't normally allowable does that statement of yours greenlight? It starts off massively broad (any action) and then narrows down to what reads to me as near-nonexistent (except anything including particularly harsh language). I guess I'm not ...

Naah, I'm just painfully aware that you're an enormous twat, and I'm occasionally unwilling to avoid highlighting that. Let's be absolutely clear, here. The job of a candidate is to get people to vote for them, both their own party and whatever they can pick up elsewhere. If a candidate is so unappe...

Re: Former Russian spy in 'critical condition' after being exposed to unknown substance
A nerve agent was used to try to murder a former Russian spy and his daughter, police have said. Sergei and Yulia Skripal were found unconscious in Salisbury on Sunday afternoon and remain critically ill. A police officer who was the first to attend the scene is now in a serious condition in hospit...
