Re: USA has some Strange Laws
on the topic of out of date laws Wyoming (my home state) is great. 7 concernd Citizans (as defined by the same law as land owners holding more than 20 acres) can hang a man for horse theft. It is ilegal to wear your spurs within the city limits of Laramie. It is ilegal to be seen with a woman of Ill...

Re: What are you reading right now?

Re: Best/Worst military forces in Science Fiction
What kind of stupid setup is that? If I hire mercenaries from offworld I want that expense to show for something, namely them crushing the opposition on short notice with vastly superior technology. If they're restricted to indigeneous technology, what's the incentive for me to hire them to begin w...

Re: New Firefly on the way?
Anyway, making a cartoon of it is practical, it might well be artistically good- the real problem is (as always) Fox holding onto the rights without any obvious intent to use them. Dog, manger, et cetera. I thought Nathan Filian owned the rights to Firefly now (seriously I could swear I read that s...

Re: Best/Worst military forces in Science Fiction
Read a book long ago (like when I was in HS) about mercanaries on a galactic level, the galactic goverment allowed people to hire them to fight in planetary wars but they were restricted to using an indigenous tech level. I cant remember the name of the book now, but the Merc force was definetly one...

Re: Drakafic questions
Note I dont disagree on any of the points made, im not an Eng. what I am is a Marine with a Deg. in History. As to the engine I couldnt find a single Turbo Compond I would consider in the period, heck the only ones I could find at all were for aircraft (somthing I tryed to point out but aparently wa...

Re: Drakafic questions
The German Maus was a good example of that. It had a 128mm main gun, and when all its engines were in good order could move at a brisk walk. That wasn't often. Also had some slight problems with bridges... True enough the Maus was rather a joke for the germans (I blame Hitler honestly). However the...

Re: Drakafic questions
Thanks Necron, that clears up my confusion. it always buged me that the Draka were so far ahead of everyone else with their tanks even though I have argued in the past (on other boards like wesworld and Navalisim) that someone could have made some of the jumps they made, my arguments were generaly b...

Drakafic questions
Ok so I registerd after lurking for a few days because the subsight found at http://www.stardestroyer.net/Armour/ShepStuff/Website/DrakaWB/WBindex.htm is realy buging me. I have found several things listed that do not match the books, as an example the Hond III is listed as having a 120mm main gun i...
