Re: Are my numbers right (ANH trench run)?

A small question, but where does 500 km come from? While not part of the movie of course, but when the Death Star was upscaled from a smallish sphere with large windows, Ralph McQuarrie calculated that it was 150 km in diameter with a one mile wide equatorial trench. I can't recall any source placin...

Re: [TV Series] Ahsoka Discussion Thread [Unmarked Spoilers!]

The TIE Gunships are ugly as hell and why being gun ships did they not use their guns? Other than "so the show can happen" ala Pitch Meeting. A pair of LAATs in a similar situation would be able to raze the whole convoy from the sky in short order. Those gunships (LAAT/Ie) were introduced...

Re: UKRAINE WAR - 1 YEAR AND GOING.

Oh, it's not a trap just like Kharkiv and Kherson weren't. The Russians have transferred shitty units to the Bakhmut front, like the 72nd Separate Motor Rifle Brigade which was formed last autumn and which ran away as soon as the Ukrainian artillery opened fire. The rivalry between Wagner and the R...

Re: UKRAINE WAR - 1 YEAR AND GOING.

It's very good news. 2km may not sound much, but it's a reversal of one month of Russian advance in little more than a day. And in the context of a city, 2km is a LOT of real estate :D This is a very good point. I don't think it's a Russian Trap as Lord Revan suggests either. I believe this is a ge...

Re: Eckharts Ladder Star Wars lore

Do you have a citation? If it was in a WEG sourcebook prior to SOTP, I certainly never noticed it. Neither did Curtis. https://www.theforce.net/swtc/novels/sotp.html It's mentioned on pg. 118 in the rulebook for WEG's second edition of Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game from 1992. There's a section (a...

Re: Eckharts Ladder Star Wars lore

I much prefer EC Henry's channel. While not perfect, I do sometimes get really annoyed by Eckhart's Ladder which I can't say I've been by EC which tends to be of a higher quality and which often deals with some more unusual subjects. There's one of his videos I saw, can't be fucked to find which on...

Re: Anyone else watching Obi-Wan Kenobi?(Spoiler thread)

Just watched the fourth episode. The least shitty, I think. I liked that the tracking device was hidden in the droid, that was clever. Actually, I don't think it's the least bit clever, at least not for tracking the network. The Third Sister knows she's Princess Leia and so why wouldn't Obi-Wan go ...

Re: Balance of the force (Take a gizillion)

No idea, but in George Lucas's unused treatments for the Sequel Trilogy, it would've been Leia who ultimately restored balance to the Force and if that had been explored more it's possible things would've been somewhat more clear.

Re: Anyone else watching Obi-Wan Kenobi?(Spoiler thread)

I actually liked Rupert Friend's portrayal of the Grand Inquisitor; even if some on Youtube hate it seemingly on principle. Copying the Rebels version was always going to be hard, bearing in mind the art style. And trying to impersonate Jason Isaacs risked sounding fake. Far better to do his own re...

Re: Picard - general discussion [spoilers]

And one thing that annoyed the heck out of me in episode 4. They had no energy for the transporter in the previous episode so they used energy from the life-support system, which should've much less energy, to power the transporter. In episode 4, Jurati is freezing so she and Picard walks to Chateau...

Re: Book of Boba Fett (spoilers)

Only one episode left to wrap this up, apparently. Not necessarily. As I mentioned above, the shows are interconnected. TBOBF mainly serves as a vehicle to explain how Boba Fett ends up where he did and then the story can progress further in Mando (and Ahsoka as well). A second season is also a pos...

When Ahsoka was announced in 2020, it was said that the shows would be interconnected moving forward.

Look from the very start of the episode; it's not a full ring but there's a gap in it. It has more of a horseshoe-shape.

I actually rather liked Solo. And link for the above? I'm cautiously optimistic if the Old republic era stuff is true. That's an untapped era. Burnett was the first to mention it: YouTube Slashfilm "confirmed" it was real: Slashfilm I don't think Solo was bad, but I found it generic.

So they'll throw out some OT era crap like Rogue One . Problem solved. Except Solo proved having OT era stuff isn't enough to attract audience. My thought at the time was "Why would I want to watch anyone else than Ford playing Han Solo?" After I watched the generic heist movie, the answe...
