Re: Democratic Leader Recorded Pressuring Candidate to Drop Out of Primary
Again, I feel like we should at least let Ritterin Sophia come back and explain herself on this one before deciding it's fake. At this point, it seems clear that Ritterin Sophia is unable or unwilling to step up and provide any evidence whatsoever for her sweeping claims against the Democratic Party.

Re: Bill Cosby guilty
1. I think it's a suspiciously specific denial to say, "I don't remember doing this to that person " when combined with the previous admission that he does in fact engage in this exact form of sexual assault. It would be hard to argue that a statement on the Howard Stern show is a confess...

Re: Possible justifications for Point Defenseless
It is clearly indicated in TLJ that the siege dreadnought's defensive guns work exactly this way: Poe is able to destroy them even though it's explicitly stated that his X-Wing's weapons are too light to penetrate the dreadnought's hull armor belt. It is also stated that those defensive guns would ...

Re: Possible justifications for Point Defenseless
Point defense not being a thing might be a thing if armor is tough, but putting small guns in makes holes and it's just not effective as a defense to put in a small gun and thus open up a path via which small guns will work. Or the big guns are just too good at stripping them off a large target.......

Re: Democratic Leader Recorded Pressuring Candidate to Drop Out of Primary
That's a good point, especially in the age of Fake News, on a topic which is rife with disinformation (from all sides). Anyone care to provide a link? I've both posted and described all the evidence I could find on the matter: 1. No evidence of any formal pledge against attack ads. 2. No evidence t...

Re: Democratic Leader Recorded Pressuring Candidate to Drop Out of Primary
Also, to be clear, when I talk about making compromises to build a big tent party, I mean actual compromise. Where all parties get something, and all parties give something. Not "Progressives shut up and stay in line, while the Centrists set the agenda." The Centrist types and Clinton sup...

Re: Bill Cosby guilty
Well, yes. All accusers should be taken seriously, and even with one accuser, if its just their word against the person they're accusing, I'd be inclined to think that they're probably telling the truth (because it takes a special kind of messed up to falsely claim that you were raped, especially a...

Re: Democratic Leader Recorded Pressuring Candidate to Drop Out of Primary
One of the fundamental problems of American politics is that we have, at the national level, two viable parties: one of them is good at governing (relatively speaking), and the other is good at getting into office. Again, you're all being too nice. This is assuming Democrats actually gave a fuck ab...

Re: Democratic Leader Recorded Pressuring Candidate to Drop Out of Primary
In fairness, objecting to "make everyone promise not to run attack ads, then run attack ads" is the kind of thing people have been saying was wrong WAY before the days of identity politics. But " Have everyone pledge to not run attack ads, then run attack ads against everyone who did...

You're not wrong. Paying off debt is the highest possible return on investment, paying into retirement funds is second to that.Soontir C'boath wrote: ↑2018-03-07 11:52pm I was definitely one of those who focused on getting rid of debt first. I think there's a big difference between wearing clothing in general that is associated with a particular culture, and wearing clothing that has special significance -- something that is sacred and/or has to be earned.

Re: Bill Cosby guilty
My threshold for "pretty sure he's guilty of this kind of shit" basically boils down to the combination of sheer number of accusations. If one person accuses Bob of sexual assault they MIGHT be lying. If five people all accuse Bob of sexual assault they are almost certainly not ALL lying,...

Re: Peasent Uprising in Vietnam
This time up North, embarrasingly close to Hanoi. Usual deal - land being confiscated from farmers to build a big resort (called Ecopark, amusingly) Pertinent details: the land is not classified as good farming land, which is why the locals are using it for shrimp ponds. Thus the compensation money...
