Re: Brexit and General UK politics thread
Well, Corbyn has always been a snake when it comes to Brexit, happily scrapping all the workplace protections and safety laws the EU brought in favour of being able to govern away from the bad EU oversight. That's Rees Mogg. Corbyn wants to do away with TFEU 107 so he can use state money to pump up...

Re: [RAR] Sinclair come out with a new Spectrum model in 1995...
We still have our Spectrum in our flat. We haven't used it for years but it will probably still turn on, with how old electronics were made. If I could be bothered with the elaborate setup that would require (I'd need to FIND a working CRT television with old antenna input...) and if I were insane....

Re: Buying a new TV
I've got a 49" 4K curved samsung TV (pc world had them cheaper than ordinary HD 40" ones) bought last year, I'm very happy with it, but the newer Quantum Dot ones do look even better. all the smart TV stuff works well, so in my opinion go for the samsung, it's a good solid product and the ...

Just a thought, but could it be a crude Prince of Wales Feathers rather than a fleur de lis? They're pretty similiar especially at that resolution

No rods, but the reactors might be damaged by the blast which would add to the fallout I think.

If you are willing to weld the bearings the easy way to remove them is just run a bead of weld round them and pull it off while warm. Or if a external bearing cage stuck in a hole, run a bead of weld round the inside, wait for it to cool and it'll shrink and fall out.

I'd heard that dailymail wasn't very credible sometimes, but I thought that was only for political debates which I never bother with. But still, it must be reporting on something, they can't just be inventing all that stuff, right? The Daily Mail's favourite headline is common thing x causes bad th...

If the spanish gov't continue down this path I can see it ending up like the troubles in Northern Ireland if it is allowed to fester the way it is. I don't look forward to the Bloody Sunday analogue but, sadly, I can see it coming.

I don't think it's app replacing street hail as an app for when there's no taxi at hand. Hailing a taxi from the sidewalk is pretty damn convenient and quick (unless you have "disqualifying" traits, like in some places dark skin, you're disabled, etc.). An app does have an advantage over ...

As a cab driver in north west wales I can see why giving the address for somewhere like that wouldn't help. our local club is about half an hour away in a town called pwllheli. It's called The Venue, and I have no idea what the address would be for it, but if you get in and ask for The Venue that's ...

early 2000's / late 90's horror movie
I remeber watching a horror movie when I was at a friends in about 2004 / 5 but I never saw the end, and it periodically bugs me that I don't know what the film was called. I remember it being set on a small island with just the one house on it. I think the house was previously owned by an actress w...

Yeah, I might find a old multimedia keyboard and then use that with the lid closed. just the old backlight switch was quite handy.
Ah well, if that's the worst I can find wrong with it then it's pretty good.

I've recently got a new laptop, which is quite nice, but misses one feature I used a lot on my previous one. My previous samsung r530 had a function key to turn the backlight off, until you pressed it again or closed and opened the screen. My new laptop sadly doesn't. Having windows turn off the dis...

Re: Why Europe wants a hard Brexit to hurt
The only ones who will be getting fucked are the British, specifically the bankers, farmers and workers. The impact on the rest of Europe is probably negligible. When you insult somebody for over two years (or over three decades) and then hand him a noose that he can use against you with only a lit...

Re: Ordering Fish(?) and Chips across the UK
Pollock is often a cod replacement in lower end Fish and Chip shops. If a shop says: Fish, Haddock, Plaice, likely the generic "Fish" is pollock rather than Cod, most customers can't / don't tell the difference. at least that was my experience when I worked in F&C shop a while back.

Underwent GA for tooth extractions the other day, 14 in 30minutes, first was a painkiller, made me feel a bit drunk / high, then the anaethitist said this will knock you out, next thing it's half an hour later, I've a sore jaw and I'm waking up in recovery. No sensation or memory from the end of the...
