Re: Something big

So... that is different from Star Destroyers how? They're all pizza slices.

Its all just an aesthetic theme. If you think about it, a whole bunch of franchises do that.

Re: Something big

Can't talk about it, but will you post when it is done? Or let us know where it can be seen? Really curious on a Fractal non-Imperial ship.

Re: Something big

Well, I guess having your work confused for official images is probably the best case problem you could ask for as an artist...

Re: Something big

Hey Ansel, I wanted to bring something to your attention: http://jbjhjm.deviantart.com/art/Finished-Star-Wars-Project-201432300 Did this guy have your mission to use your art? I've already submitted a report to DeviantArt moderators to have them check into it but I wanted you to be aware of its exi...

Re: Something big

Looks gorgeous. I understand your reasoning with why you put the landing pad in the aft rotating section. My only issue with it is, especially given the tiny size of the landing pad, it looks like it might be a bit unbalanced in the back. Say if a repair droid were sitting on the wing, it looks like...

Re: Something big

She's looking pretty good. I was never a huge Skipray fan, but the model's coming along nicely. How many polys she at about now?

Re: Something big

I concur with the carrack. That bridge looks like it was designed for Transformers.

Re: Something big

That could be very well be what they are. The Mon Cal's do have an amazing amount of shield power (otherwise how could the smaller ones stand up to an ISD? And by smaller I mean Liberty type, as opposed to Home One). So if they use missiles that means more power to shields. It would severely limit ...

Re: Something big

The second option is that they are actually compound beams like the dishes on the LAAT/s or deathstar. They would concentrate at a point over the blister and coalesce before being directed this gives them some standoff from the hull and also borrows from the long red TL effects seen in ROTJ. The im...

Re: Something big

The one point I could argue with the "liner" conversion is with the trenches in the blisters (at least in the Home One model I saw). They could in theory have simply put multiple small-caliber emplacements in instead of a few heavy emplacements. Home One might be covered in weapons no more...

Re: Something big

Not trying to double post or anything, but I've been looking into various 3d programs. Rhino3d and Cinema 4d both look like viable options right now, the price is where I could afford them, and people are pumping out models I find visually pleasing in both programs. The NURBS thing is kinda confusin...

Re: Something big

I'm, truth be told, seeing more support for trying to get started than I've seen from, and for, other people. Maybe it has to do with that whole Mon-Cal-Designs-Planned part... Not to say I don't have a murder-wedge design in mind too. I took a peak at Rhino. I, in theory, could purchase that now. W...

Re: Something big

I've been quietly watching Fractal for about two years now, and I've been green with envy. The detail, the theory crafting probable energy outputs, trying to figure out how to explain "Star Wars Science" in his ships, all of it. Its made me want to do 3d modeling of my own. I've been attem...
