Re: All rise and no fall: how Civilization reinforces a dangerous myth
When I play a Paradox game (I find them more fun than Civ. The inner historian in me cries when I play Civ V and have China in Germany or something) I tend to set myself goals and just build there. While letting the rest of the world develop along its own paths. I'm a plenty good enough player to wo...

Re: World of Warships
I'm going to save mine and stick him in the UK battleship line, myself. Just like I'm saving the ten pointer German I got awhile back for when German battlecruisers eventually crop up. (thanks to Scharnhorst, I have a couple BB captains already really well trained and I already have a ten pointer on...

Re: The Queen's Return (SG-1 AU)
True enough, though we know that the Beta DHD was functional. Sam just didn't dial anywhere other than Earth, and the NID managed to drain its power when they used it. Somehow. This said, the common time I've seen for Egeria being captured is right around 1 AD, give or take a few years on either sid...

Re: The Queen's Return (SG-1 AU)
Chapter 1 It had been many, many years since Egeria had used a Chappa'ai . The sensation had never left her, however. One second, standing in front of the Chappa'ai in an open field. The next, stepping out in--in-- This is not where I remember the Chappa'ai being located. Egeria knew that it was pr...

Re: The Queen's Return (SG-1 AU)
Whee another new idea that wouldn't let go. Joking aside, this is something that has been bugging me for some time. Stargate is my favorite science fiction series, period. Username aside, I like it more than Star Wars. That I haven't written for it in a long time comes down to the fact other ideas t...

The Queen's Return (SG-1 AU)
Prologue Time had long ago become meaningless. It was impossible to judge when all she saw was the inside of a tank. The voices of humans around her faded into the background. Save for the experiments. Oh the experiments. The humans kept coming to her tank, pulling her out to run tests. They would...

Re: World of Warships
There is something to be said for a Bismarck raining secondary fire down on you. I know my Amagi doesn't like when that happens if a cyclone pops up and I end up too close on accident. The psychological effect is rather large.

Re: World of Warships
I made time and played some last night after the rest of the house had gone to bed and played with my Caledon some (mostly to try to get a feel for torpedoes), but I ended up back in my Black Swan . The long-range gunnery isn't an issue for me (I am a sniper at heart?). I also don't know any differ...

Re: World of Warships
That, and I (personally) would not advise the Brit cruisers as your first line. I haven't played them myself, but they're a very niche ship line. Squishy, only have AP (Belfast aside, but hey, premium) and they rely a lot on smoke to balance things. At least in the hands of a player who hasn't maste...

Re: World of Tanks (new thread)
I got my first Invader medal in an AMX-40. That was a hilarious match, everyone cheering on the Duck as I trundled into the enemy cap and proceeded to take it from 0 while they were off dealing with the rest of my team.

Re: World of Tanks (new thread)
I played up what (was) the heavy-heavy line of Soviets myself. The IS-4 line, in other words.
Stock KV-4 was suffering, but the ST-I is made of troll if you abuse the shockingly good (for a Soviet heavy) gun depression with the Stalinium turret.

Re: World of Warships
To me, the Scharnhorst is everything the Spee is but better . What should be slightly better guns (don't have a Spee, haven't had time to play), one extra turret of those guns, faster, better armor that is quite trolly if you know how to angle... About the only advantage the Spee has is being a tier...

On the other hand, some NorCar drivers really are that bad. One of my favorite matches consisted of trolling in Amagi and taking down three of them from near-full health and one nearly taken down before he ran...

Re: World of Warships
Eh, Fuso is quite a good ship if you know what to do with her. Sure you have to expose more of your broadside, but having twelve Japanese-accurate (well, after Kawachi Japanese-accurate) guns is quite useful. Though that may be the fact I've made a tradition out of shotgunning unsuspecting DD's in i...

They don't go away. This is just the last chance (until they want to troll someone) that WG is releasing the ships.

Re: World of Warships
I'm pretty well going to be locked into using Amagi for T8. The only other ship of that tier I have is Hipper, and while I love playing her, she's not built for a BB dominated Ranked meta. With Bismarck having hydro, the one thing Hipper did have is less relevant now. And there's not a chance in hel...

Re: World of Warships
In fairness, the light cruiser line is FINALLY only a patch away or so... but it's hard to call that fair given it's probably the most famous Navy in history. I'm sure there's a grand plan somewhere in there to tease little bits to keep everyone who wants to play the Royal Navy playing and buying o...

Re: World of Warships
I've said elsewhere that both Germany and Britain have enough battlecruiser designs to make trees up to at least T8 or so, if not full trees (G3 in particular is, if modernized, certainly T9 material). They're the only nations that do though, so while I could see them getting battlecruiser lines, I ...

Re: Should I try out Star Trek Online?
Again, if you do the Summer, Winter or Anniversary events you'll get a free T6. Every once in awhile Cryptic have been known to give out T5 C-store ships (that can be upgraded) during a giveaway, but I wouldn't bank on that. That would be how I got my Excelsior. Still my go to ship, since I don't p...

Re: Star Trek: Discorvery
And man, that's one ugly ship. It looks like the offspring of a Starfleet vessel raped by a Klingon one. Either that or the model was designed by someone who'd never seen any Trek, working from a (badly) written description. Looks weird, and worse than amateurish — the New Voyages short Going Boldl...

Hm. That's odd. Every screenshot I've taken with the F11 method works perfectly fine, albeit saved as BMP files and needing converting to JPEGs for proper uploading. Will test the WW1 scenario though, haven't used it in months and it may be bugged. EDIT: Yeah, BMP or no, I just tested it. Screenshot...

Re: Next Paradox LP poll
Darkest Hour takes screenshots with F11, at least on both of the laptops I've used to play it. However For some ungodly reason- no really, I have no idea why and I've been on PDox DH forums for as long as I've played it -you have to use print-screen for the big events/decisions. F11 won't take them....
