Re: Should I buy the "The Essential Guide to Warfare" ?

Personally, it's not a book really worth getting. Initially, I was hoping the book would be slightly wikipedia-style battle articles with lots of battle diagrams and historical context . The book has the light touch possible towards that direction but it's not enough to make me throw money for it. A...

Re: Rome 2 Total War

I've been playing the game for a few hours now but it suddenly occurred to me if it was possible to assign offices to your family members. Rome 1 sort of had it and Shogun 2 had it. Does anyone know the answer? I'm still trying to understand the political faction stuff, which doesn't seem to be very...

Re: Book recommendation/request thread

I'd suggest first reading Christopher Clark's "Iron Kingdom" and then, if you really want to get into it, you should read Lothar Gall's Bismarck: The white revolutionary (2 vols), which are IMO by far the best books about the period there are but might be expensive. Thanks. My university ...

I actually thought the big surprise was that Jamie was going to get killed, leading to to even greater internal division in Robb's camp. Also, the talk of attacking Casterly Rock threw me off guard.

Also for long time watchers Larry Williams of OtakuAssemble announced his last GoT video would be the season finale as he's giving up on the show. . Well, I'm pretty sure that he had the series spoiled for him so I can understand his apathy. Are there any other fresh eyes reviewing? I'd love to see...

Looks very impressive and the city battles look like they'll actually be fun. I always thought city battles were boring in previous games.

Re: Book recommendation/request thread

I have found myself with ample time this summer and I have been on a reading binge of the later Roman Empire (4th to 6th century) with a focus on the western half. What sparked this sudden interest? First, in the discussion of U. S. politics this subject comes up quite often and I thought that I wou...

Conquest: Frontier Wars sequel?

Apparently, some of the original people who made the Conquest: Frontier Wars are trying to make a sequel to the game by raising funds on kickstarter. Link Harken back to a time of RTS glory ! Re: Dammit, I'm going to have to buy this book, aren't I?

I suppose I can see the empire choosing to limit the number of executors, but why would the Republic field only a handful of dreadnoughts and battlecruisers during the Clone Wars? Unless they're significantly more expensive per ton than smaller warships they would be preferred over a group of star ...

Apparently, the builder uses a 3D printer to build many of his smaller parts like turrents. Rather ingenious; just build templates from various things and then copy paste. :)

Oh geez, I remember McEwok. Yeah, we'll get an earful on The Mighty 3 Million, because everything written down in an official book is gospel no matter how stupid, but filmed imagery is error-ridden and useless. Call me petty, but you may have just saved me money. I don't want to flame the guy or su...

I had the chance to skim through the book recently while I was at the bookstore. There are interesting tidbits but I'm afraid it's not detailed or new enough for me pay money for it at this moment. My problem with the book is that it is light on "warfare" and heavy on "guide". I ...

Overall a great episode. Everything was just great. It seems that Lori's little speech to Shane made him go completely nuts in a way or at least that is my impression. Children's response to SW; viewing order: 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6

I grew up during the 1990s and had already been exposed to Star Wars heavily through media and culture but I never had the chance to view it naively and unspoiled. The great reveal thus never had a huge impact on me as it could have. I came upon a lite analysis of a father showing his children the S...
