Re: What do you consider the higher-end SF universes?
The culminating act of large-scale 'kaboom' involves an attack on an entire galaxy dominated by a species of hostile chlorine-breathers, extensively colonized by fortified planets who have their own intergalactic-range weaponry. The mode of attack involves teleporting planets around. They teleporte...

On the other hand, our career criminal element is not responsible for most murders. Most murders are committed by people who know eachother well (one is more likely to be killed by a spouse than anyone else, last I checked). For planned-out murder (for a bit, not five seconds...) You'll find the ma...

I have US and Germans. You can also use cheap craftstore acrylic paint to attach the flock to the base, just slather the paint on and then coat it in the flock.

*cough* Skylark */cough* Lensverse is toned down from Skylark. At the end of Skylark, the bad guy decides he's going to run off to the galaxy at the farthest end of the universe to start his empire because Earth is wimpy. This course, which would give the First Galaxy a near miss, was the most direc...

Lens-verse;
Typical cruiser tops out at 150parsec/hour, or roughly 4.3million C
A speedster hits 3x that (450parsec/hr)
In inter-galactic space, 100,000 parsec/hr (~2.9e9c)

Heh-heh-heh. Oops. I really don't think the Lennart is going to worry too much about a crippled Death Squadron Destroyer.
I don't see this turning out well for Olgie.
(nice to see the update)

You can also center it on the Caribbean/Gulf of Mexico and make the centermost land areas a hot jungle/tropical rainforest.

Re: Rethinking the mechanics of DayNight and seasons on Disc
With the impassible mountains around the continent you can also say this is just one portion of a larger world and the rest is hidden beyond the range. Which allows for the atmosphere actually belonging to a larger body. As for the day/nights/seasons with a true disc-world. The discworld is gravita...

Re: Rethinking the mechanics of DayNight and seasons on Disc
Why not put the desert in the middle and the arctic on the outside. The middle is surrounded by reradiating land (heat island), while outer portions are only half surrounded. There could be a mountain 'range' running all around the outside keeping everything in. Evaporation cycle deposits water vapo...

DC cops shot two people (one died) in just a couple hours last night, but both of them had fired on the officers.

Re: Hull 721, plot arc the second
There's the female ex-ISD captain from arc1. In arc2 there's also Lennart's sister (in law? I forget), the Inquisitor, and the Coruscant police officer. I'm sorry, but I have to laugh at someone complaining about misogyny in a story set in the Empire. Misogyny is what the Empire does, and now that D...

Ok, got a 50k retiree, and I'm not sure the rewards are worth it. I'm going to restart that character and go for 100k. You get +1 chain armor and shields in the smithy.

Ok, got Rachel up enough to retire for access to the coliseum. New Cleric, with high Cha for two henchbeings. http://i.imgur.com/jZNxxdK.png You can fight monsters for XP, or to use them as henchbeings if defeated with a whip (now available at the market). You get, at best, 60-80XP per fight, plus a...

I can't find my novelization right now, but IIRC if you cross reference the novelization w the movie, the A-Wings were carrying Protorps.

Re: Dungeon Robber, AD&D based flash game.
I've had 5th level guys straight up killed by poison traps doing 20pts of damage (rolled a 1). Had a guy fall in a pit and couldn't climb out due to platemail (crushed). Watch out for unattended treasure, it's almost always trapped. A 10' pole gives you a +1 against some traps in addition to letting...

Re: Dungeon Robber, AD&D based flash game.
The ones you get from the inn can fight, but not that well, and they night only have 1 hp. If you have lots of equipment the ability to take stuff back to town is handy. If you play a Wizard though, charm lets you get intelligent monsters as meatshields. They also help make up for your mediocre offe...

Re: Dungeon Robber, AD&D based flash game.
You don't buy skellys, you can only cast the in the graveyard and get one. If it dies in the dungeon you have to leave to go to the graveyard to get another. If you go to town with it it goes away (as do all henchmen) so you go straight into the dungeon with it from the graveyard. If you have a Hi C...

Re: Dungeon Robber, AD&D based flash game.
+1 mace is d6+1. 'Attacks Suck' is a bit of an exaggeration The good thing about a cleric is you can heal yourself at any time, until you run out of spells (and for free at home), you can get a 4hp skeleton henchman that only costs you a spell to start the level with (vs 60-100gp at the inn), you ha...

Re: Dungeon Robber, AD&D based flash game.
No, it doesn't. There's another Cleric spell Animate Dead (you don't need to buy the scroll as a cleric). If you go to the graveyard you get a free Skeleton henchman. Also Cure only heals 1d8 hp, not all of them. I got a couple lucky rolls early and thought it brought you up to full. As a Cleric, yo...

Well, Charm is at least 2nd level, and Haste is 3rd level. Charm Monster is higher then Charm Person, but here it works on both.
