Aquaman always seemed rather out of place on the Justice League to me, since the guy's most potent when underwater and most of the JL's adventures will always be on dry land. I wouldn't mind to see an Aquaman DTV at all, as it would give the guy a chance to have an adventure in his element.

IIRC, one of the Earths that they have filled in was clearly supposed to be based on Batman Beyond (Earth-12, I think), so they might just set this there.
