Re: Dr. David Stuart on December 21st, 2012...

The Church Of The SubGenius had the perfect parody for this sort of prophetic date-rounding: When X-Day "failed" to occur in 1998, it was explained that J.R. "Bob" Dobbs screwed up in interpreting the message from Space God Jehovah-One years ago and that X-Day is actually on for...

Friendly piece of advice, Shep, you might to look through Parting Shots and find a few newbies who were banned for "minor boo-boos" before you lob that accusation at the mods.

Yeah. I went to Nar Shaddaa and it worked fine from then on.

Re: KOTOR2 is finally finished

I'm playing this mod, and I can't finish the first sparring match with the Handmaiden. Both characters can get the other's HP down to almost nothing, but neither can deliver the knockout blow. The only way to end the fight if I get myself DQ'ed by using Force powers or something. Anybody else have t...

Yes, he was. Slussh managed to kill him -- again -- but didn't destroy the ring, allowing it and its compadres to resurrect him again in addition to the others. At least that's what I'm seeing.
That would definitely make more sense than an incredibly obvious goof.

Surprise Resurrections: As with Larfleeze's victims, I should have realized that the dead bodies Slussh was carrying around in his membrane would be targets for Black Rings; great visual. [/spoiler] Did one of the black rings raise Amon Sur out of Slushh? Wasn't Amon already there? Wasn't he the on...

Re: New Details on "Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths" DTV

It might have if the SF writers had fallen into the same trap that so many DC writers have regarding J'onn. Martian Manhunter is ridiculously over-powered for his own good: super strength, flight, invisibility, physic abilities, heat vision (which never made any sense given the fire weakness, thoug...

I wouldn't MIND an Arthur DTV. I just don't think it would SELL. Unfortunately, I can't say I can really disagree with you. I certainly think Aquaman can be cool, and that if anyone's up to the task of making him that way, it's Team Timm, but, yeah, he's just a pathetic joke of a superhero in too m...

Re: New Details on "Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths" DTV

Aquaman always seemed rather out of place on the Justice League to me, since the guy's most potent when underwater and most of the JL's adventures will always be on dry land. I wouldn't mind to see an Aquaman DTV at all, as it would give the guy a chance to have an adventure in his element.

Re: New Details on "Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths" DTV

No "Worlds Collide" is disappointing, as is the lack of a story with the JSA. However, while the world of Ultraman, Owlman, et al has always struck me as very Silver Age and generally very corny, I must admit that I tend to like "Mirror-verse" stories quite a lot. Plus, I must al...

Pardon my ignorance, but what is "chemical castration?" Hell, just typing it gives me the willies. From what I understand, chemical castration means being forced onto a regimen of drugs that stifles the sex drive completely. Unsurprisingly, drugs powerful enough to do such a thing do not ...

IIRC, one of the Earths that they have filled in was clearly supposed to be based on Batman Beyond (Earth-12, I think), so they might just set this there.

Oh yeah, GL 45 looks like it'll be made of condensed win. Bring on Mogo vs. Xanshi! As for the other one, I'm not a huge Titans fan, but it seems to provide a bit of insight into why the black ring can't raise Don Hall. By the way, does anyone else suspect those skeletons at the heart of the Zamaron...

Anyone want to takes bets on when/if Abin and Amon Sur will rise? (I can easily Abin coming back as a black lantern, telling Hal he sucks at being the GL of 2814 and generally screwing with his mind. Amon maybe not so much.) Just re-read BN #2, so never mind about that question. Also I was thinking...

Re: "The Blackest Night" Talkback Thread (Spoilers)

I've been picking these up myself, having gotten to read (most of) the prelude to the blackest night books. I sort of get the suspicion that the plot won't be advanced very much until the black central battery reaches 100% power, which is kind of annoying, but the whole thing is still supremely kick...

The story element to CNC3 was actually well done and after playing it again along with recently acquiring the expansion the people in charge did deliver in that aspect. Can't see how you figure that, considering that C&C3 had Kane have this big, elaborate, mysterious plan in the game and then r...

Just saw it. It certainly wasn't bad, but far from perfect. I would definitely have preferred it if they cut a few minutes of the awkward romances to set up Aragog's death and make that whole scene come less from out of left field. Speaking of the romance, it was awkward and clumsy in the book and i...

I liked the movie just fine and I'll probably see it again. It may be silly, but my biggest problem was Bumblebee not talking. We got to hear a little of it at the end of the first film and there is no reason he couldn't have talked in the sequel, even mixing in radio speak if the desire arose on h...
