Re: Arnold Schwarzenegger for President

You've got to admit, as much as I hate the celebrification of politics, Ahnold would have the best campaign slogans. Ahnold 2020: Vote for me if you want to live! (which could be depressingly accurate if he ran against Trump). And for his re-election campaign: Ahnold 2024: I'll be back! Necroed the...

Re: Conspircy theory question about Acetaminophen in opioids

The drug addicts I referred to used things like street heroin, diverted methadone, and the like, that was nearly 25 years ago. Prescription drugs - both prescribed and diverted - have become a much bigger thing since then. In an "opiate-naive" individual taking something like my spouse's ...

Re: Ohio’s New Opioid Regs Scare Chronic Pain Sufferers

I'm well aware. Frankly everything the FDA and DEA says about marijuana is full of more bullshit than produced by all actual bulls shitting in the history of bulls. All they have to do is study it's effects on people who would qualify for medical marijuana in states that allow it and they'd have no...

Embodying Hope: Vaccination During the Napoleonic Wars

From the first, Jenner wanted to make the knowledge freely available, to broadcast it beyond political obstacles and geographical boundaries. Many thought it would have served him, and England, to make the vaccine a proprietary matter. Patent it, Jenner! Sell it to the well-to-do, the government, t...

U6 includes 'discouraged workers' e.g. have looked in the last six months but not the last four weeks (U5) but not people who have completely given up e.g. are on disability, pension or other benefits, want a job but believe they can't get one. You can't get out of this by saying 'retirees' essenti...

Re: US jobless claims lowest in 4 decades

To the likes of employers, corporations especially, the conditions of the labor market are great. They can hire, fire, and grind employees down with crushing overtime and middling pay at will, all while making massive windfall profits. What's not to love from such an arrangement (for them?) You did...

Re: Invisible hand broken finger is healing

One of the big reasons why paying your workers more helps with productivity isn't even that you can retain better talent. It's that workers with more money are more able to work efficiently . They can maintain their cars, so they don't have as many problems getting to work on time. They eat better,...

Actually, dueterte was apparently calling the reporter a son of a bitch and not Obama, although he did call the ambassador that.

More important however is the idea of sovereignty. Dueterte is playing the sovereignty card, that his anti crime policy cannot be dictated by foreign concerns....

China & Taiwan new row over tourists

BEIJING/TAIPEI - China and Taiwan have added tourism to their bones of contention since the pro-independence opposition swept to power in January elections, trading accusations about who is to blame for a decline in Chinese visitors to the self-ruled island. China has made no secret of its dislike ...

Yes, they were in a hurry to get the child on oxygen, so part of the error was being in a rush and not checking everything. But why was there a unit set for Adult Patients in the Neo-Natal Unit? Why didn't NICU have units set specifically for Neo-Natal and Pre-term babies? Because Maintenance/Physi...

Sing it sister. I pass a thousand a day, what is my error rate?
