Re: Neo-Galactica RAR
Of course if the Cylons don't go off on their own, the regenerating base ship could probably go back and forth between Terra and Caprica without too much trouble. In fact, since it was apparently able to regrow arms that normally contain weapons and raider hangars, it might be a renewable factory on...

Re: I’m a 16 yr-old blond. Probably all I have to do is cry
Regarding mental illness, in the U.S. criminals are sentenced to mental hospitals instead of prison when found not guilty due to insanity. Many jurors are reluctant to acquit a killer even if he is completely out of his head. Compounding this is a general cultural disdain for mental illness. A lot o...

Re: Steve Jobs statue unveiled
I think je is just the Cyrillic name of epsilon / e , which is backwards above. The letter above the 0 might be a . Originally they were based on Greek uncial rather than Carolingian miniscule, basically the same forms used in Coptic: #1028 and #11392 . Yes, but there is no 'je' in Serbian Cyrillic...

Re: Steve Jobs statue unveiled
My russian is quite rusty but the kyrilic letters should be #1088 = "r" and #1069 = "JE". So the statue could read: "R JE 0 | 1" (Are you Zero or One). Or "JE R 1 | 0" (You are One or Zero -> You are someone or nobody?) This is Serbian Cyrillic, with Latin ba...

My eyesight is bad, so maybe I just missed it, but during the battle scenes I couldn't help but wonder why there were no signs of anyone regenerating. Even if the Daleks had weapons that could stop it, what about people hit by debris or thrown by explosions? I really hope they retcon the Lord Presid...

In our rush to condemn pedophiles and sexual predators, we kind of left some loop holes. Poor kids. No, this was not a loophole in a law solely intended to protect children from adults. According to the article: [emphasis added] ... Children aged 14 or 15 can be charged with unlawful conduct with a...

Reading other places, it's amazing how many fans still have faith that Moffat's going to come through and pull everything together satisfactorily. They analyze every episode, and anything that seems odd or an inconsistent, like the legs under the Tardis in the scrap heap or his tie in the pocket dim...

When we were first told that the enemy was going to be Snowmen, I thought at first we were facing the Yetis revamped. If I recall, the Yetis were controlled by a non-corporeal entity called the Great Intelligence, which wanted to make for itself a physical form. When one of the robots was brought t...

I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone claim the old series had good acting before. Maybe you've never seen it? Heaps of it was fucking ropeable. Not to long ago I rewatched The Daleks . To me "bad acting" sometimes comes across as much more natural than polished, perfect delivery. Ian and B...

Based on this picture, I think I like this one better than the other two. It's closer to the classic look, with a tidy console and no weird organic shapes, so far as I can tell. I do wish it had a simple roundel pattern without the hexagons, as well as the massive internal doors.

Oh, but where did those other Daleks come from? It seems like they're all well accounted for. Every post-Time War dalek apart from those three Davros-daleks is dead. Where would they find an entire parliament's worth of Daleks made from the original Kaled flesh that the Victory Daleks wouldn't just...

So this is just a heavily modded version? I don't see why I should pay for slightly improved graphics and a little new content with all the mods that already exist. Maybe if they created a new engine with a 3D view, or wrote a version for the Aurora engine, it might be worth some money.

What if the Aliens weren't weapons, but the Space Jockeys' gods? The script for the first movie had a sequence in which the humans explore a temple with depictions of the Jockeys willingly serving as hosts. Maybe they created humans specifically to be hosts/food for their masters. It wasn't that the...

The Germans had lios-alfar, light elves, nature spirits associated with fertility and the sun. Their best modern equivalent would be little winged fairies with nature powers. The dwarves of course were the svart-alfar, chthonic spirits associated with darkness and metallurgy. Tolkien's elves have mo...

This is why I've sometimes thought we should change the wording to guilty due to mental illness. As Aharon pointed out, people found not guilty due to insanity typically spend more time locked up than they do if convicted. I don't know what it's like in Norway, but in the U.S. there is a powerful re...
