Re: VA At Gen Cuccinelli wanted to bring Anti-Sodomy Laws!

A little more detail about this case: Cuccinelli's stated rationale for pushing the issue is to keep a child predator behind bars. The victim at the time was 17. As far as I can tell, the state of Virginia defines a minor as someone younger than 15. So, even if Cuccinelli got his way, some other cre...

Or that article that said there are no hungry people in America. My sister actually writes for Heritage, so I've got some insight into the kinds of things they'll let fly. Example: a year or so ago conservatives were having this big to-do about a lady whose daughter found a baby woodpecker, and they...

Re: Have new Wii, looking for recomendations.

If your definition of mecha games is broad enough to include powered armor (and hey, it worked for Super Robot Wars ), there's always Metroid Prime Collection. In more traditional news, there's apparently a Sakura Wars game that came out in the US (how did that one slip past me?). Also, if you're in...

Re: Students push religion, get slammed by professor

The question is, is anyone seeing this kind of phenomenon in colleges these days? I remember back when I was still hooked on religion that I posed several pointed questions to my professors that were religiously motivated, but always in a search to understand why science and my faith weren't jiving...

In Robocop 2, Robocop flat-out tells Murphy's wife it's just Alex Murphy's skin on his face. They "put it there to honor him" or something like that. Of course, he was trying to assure her that he wasn't Murphy, so who knows if he was being honest or not.

I think its right the father is not to be prosecuted, also it is worth pointing out that people easily forget just how damaging a punch to the head can be, people have died by one punch, if struck with enough force (along with the floor the head hits on) the father was in a fit of rage and lashed o...

Re: What kind of jobs could there be in an O'Neill colony?

Farming might be kind of interesting. The classic O'Neill cylinder has a separate ring for farming (I believe it's the ring made of cylinders you see in a lot of art) that rotates at a different speed. So you could probably mine that for a lot of interesting introspective stuff; you know, being as f...

My sister volunteered with the campaign, so I can confirm that is...pretty much it. Also, at least locally he's been pounding the 'teachers suck' meme so hard that he's positioned himself as the straight-talker being put upon by champagne-sipping caviar-eating public school teachers.

Well, since this question is about as subjective as it could possibly get I'm gonna go ahead and throw this out there: Cable. I've started cutting back on the fast food, but my experience is that McDonald's is more consistent than Burger King, which might give the impression that it's higher quality to some. I've eaten at McDonald's in several different states and every burger I've had tasted pretty much the same. I've eat...

Re: Any Asian style fantasy worlds?

Legend of the Five Rings is a tabletop RPG whose setting is basically 'Japan' to the same extent most traditional fantasy novels are 'Europe' (so, uh, if accuracy is your thing you might want to look elsewhere). I mention this because it apparently has tie-in novels. Unfortunately I haven't read th...

Re: UC Gundam vs. The Gyaos

Well, the first thing that comes to mind is the Gyaos are going to have to be eating a lot of people very fast to achieve that kind of growth. That might be (kinda) easy on modern Earth, but by UC 0079 the Earth has a population as low as 2 billion. That was before they and the Zekes started annihil...

The ending to Final Fantasy X.

'Good job, you saved the world. Oh, and you had to destroy the things holding you to this world to do it. So you have to die now. NO HAPPY ENDING FOR YOU.'

The music didn't help. Or the bit where Yuna tries to hug him goodbye and it's already too late.

Not being from Arizona, I wasn't too familiar what sort of platform Lori Klein ran on. A quick Google reveals that 'the Tea Party supports me' was a big part of it. So, this is yet another example of somebody so busy wrapping themselves in the Constitution they couldn't be bothered to read it.

Yeah, never underestimate the ability to doublethink. The Final Fantasy Tactics Advance Ivalice was a dream Ivalice and not the "real" one. However, in Final Fantasy Tactics A2 the main character actually travels back in time to Ivalice. However, he doesn't seem to know much about past Ivalice, implying that knowledge of ancient Ivalice was gone by th...
