Re: The Hunted (nBSG)
I am not sure that Gary’s coup is a good thing for the humans. Zoe was a fanatic who believed her vision and her future were pre-ordained. Gary, on the other hand, is a cold calculating realist who sees things as they are and not as he wishes them to be. He’ll do the math and figure out when it’s be...

Re: The Hunted (nBSG)
This a ground burst of a device equal to the Tsar Bomba that the Soviet Union detonated. According to Wiki (yes, I know) it would have given exposed skin third degree burns at 62 miles. Lord knows what the EMP of that beast would have been like. One would think that the Guardians would all have had...

Re: The Hunted (nBSG)
Damn, the Guardians just can't catch a break. While this is a major colony, you have to wonder what Earth's defenses look like. You almost have to feel sorry for the Guardians when the various Terran navies get themselves sorted out into a unified fleet and go looking for a little payback. Looks lik...

I seem to recall Zoe saying that they'll gather everything they have and go after the Colonials / Skinjobs...since Cavil nuked the Cylon homeworld they had nothing to leave behind. Maybe I got that wrong, I thought Cavil nuked the Skinjobs' homeworld that was in the process of being occupied by the...

Re: The Hunted (nBSG)
Hmm, so far the Guardians have lost 3,000 Raiders to collisions and missle strikes with an unknown number lost to the Vipers and the guns of the Cougars, Bearcats and Hurricanes. BTW did MA mention how the Hurricanes were armed? Next they (Guardians) most likely took one Hell of a beating from the p...

Re: The Hunted (nBSG)
It seems to me that between their directed-energy weapons and their slow FTL, Terran engagement ranges would be much greater than those of the Colonials or Cylons. Hence, they would have a radically different doctrine for the use of strike craft. ----------------------------------------------------...

Re: The Hunted (nBSG)
Just a thought regarding the Constellation 's strike group, if the Terran PD lasers are so damn effective, then a Kitty Hawk class carrier wing of 70 or so attack craft should be meat on the table for a true warship's anti-fighter energy weapons. That leads me to believe that: 1.) The Terran craft a...

Re: The Hunted (nBSG)
Did I miss something? When was Sidewinder given command of the Raptors on Galatica . Just because he may be a squadron CO on Scorpia does not give him command duties on Galatica. This would have to be cleared through Galactica's CAG and I'm not sure how Starbuck will like a "by the booker"...

The hatch opened and a hard-faced man, bald, wearing the uniform of a Colonel stepped inside. And Sidewinder pursed his lips together tightly. He knew that face, because he had been briefed on the Thirteen human Cylon models—Saul Tigh That is going to make one "interesting" debrief. "...

Re: The quality of the various elite troops in history
It clearly has to be the Imperial Guard. They only broke once, and even when they did they still managed to perform the greatest feat of arms of all units, both French and Allied, at waterloo. You are correct with regards to the withdraw of the Old Guard. The Middle Guard having been repulsed by We...

Re: VI Corps, Gettysburg, July 3rd.
Longstreet did indeed recommend a grand wheel around the Union’s left flank. Unfortunately on the morning of day two when he suggested the maneuver it was impossible (o.k. difficult) to pull off. Stuart was still in transit to Gettysburg, Lee would have no screen to scout the way and fend off Yankee...

If you are going to use U-Boat losses as a measuring stick, then I'd say February 1943 and onward.

Thanks Isolder.
I never thought that Meade had VI corps so far to the end of the line especially when he predicted an assault on his middle on day three.
Live and learn.
