Well there's also the fact that Namor just isn't that likable.

Re: The OotS Thread III
Because narrative wise it's never the second in command that takes up the mantle after the original leader dies. It's the idealistic, young one that everyone rallies around even though it makes no sense. Plus it would only be Haley and Elan left, he probably figured that if Elan felt he was too weak...

Now here's hoping Brad Bird directs a Star Wars films. I've been saying for years that if the Phantom Menace was ever remade he'd be perfect for it.

Re: Obamancare "tax"
Wait why is a Home Mortgage Interest Deduction a big sign that the US is anti-tax. I mean I understand that you can look at our relatively low income tax, or our political environment. But why does a tax deduction designed to encourage home ownership that existed when taxes are far higher, suggest b...

Re: Obamancare "tax"
Yeah but that's assuming there's no service increase. There's a huge percentage of Americans who wouldn't mind their taxes increasing if it meant having to pay less in insurance premiums.

Re: Will the Supreme Court uphold or overturn Heathcare
Alphawolf: if not filing your taxes is technically an action since you're avoiding taxes, wouldn't going without health insurance also be an action under that criteria? The problem Im sure my conservative and libertarian friends will bring up is that we have outright laws against not paying your ta...

Re: Will the Supreme Court uphold or overturn Heathcare
Or maybe you don't understand the concept of following up on questions by asking for different examples of things. I mean if this is not the place to ask those questions that's fine but the idea that following up is somehow moving the goal post is stupid.

Re: Will the Supreme Court uphold or overturn Heathcare
Either you are shifting goal posts, or you are about as dense as a block of lead. Or perhaps I'm not shifting the goal post because I'm asking for a precedent on something you've yet to provide one for. Breaking the law is not an inaction through tax avoidance is not an inaction especially since th...

Re: Will the Supreme Court uphold or overturn Heathcare
I would argue not paying taxes is tax avoidance and thus an action. I'm not arguing that Obamacare should have been struct down. It just feels the courts kind of changed what it was to something almost identical but distinctively difference almost for convenience sakes.

Re: Will the Supreme Court uphold or overturn Heathcare
But that's a specific action. Is there precedent for taxing inactivity? Cause it seems there are three ways to look at this bill 1) It's a mandate with a fine under the Commerce Clause 2) It's a tax penalty. 3) It's a general tax increase with offered tax credits. All three function identically. The...

Re: Will the Supreme Court uphold or overturn Heathcare
Examples of currently existing tax penalties? I mean I know there are tax incentives and there are fines but what tax penalties are there? Most of the time we see them as incentives. For example, the government wants people to buy houses, so they offer a tax deduction for mortgage payments. The gov...

Re: Will the Supreme Court uphold or overturn Heathcare
So excuse me if this sounds stupid. But does this mean the Supreme Court altered the language of a bill? Because everyone thought the mandate would be struck down but at the same time, felt if instead of a mandate, we had a general tax increase on all Americans with a refundable tax credit equal to ...

Re: Ron Paul Supporters Cause County Convention Chaos
A large hunk of the fucking populace wants the budget cut starting with our overseas wars. What the hell do you think the Tea Party movement was about? As for 'health care reform', Dr. Paul is considerably in favour of it. Maybe not your 'give more goddamn money/control to the fucking insurance com...

Answer it for me then please. While I am no longer an active member of the party, I still tend to vote republican. Fine. I think its probable that Dr. Paul will pick up enough delegates to end Mitt Romney's chances of being the nominee automatically. It will likely be a Brokered Convention and Dr. ...

Re: More Goldbug Idiocy: Washington State
Wait if the Government has the power to regulate the value of money, how does that not support fiat currency? Isn't the whole point of gold that isn't value cannot be regulated because it has a hard value based on the minerals it's made by?

Re: Taxing the Rich in America
Corporations aren't people. Corporate profits ultimately goes to shareholders as dividend income, so taxing corporate profit (which is effectively what the govt does since corporations can write off costs) is the same as taxing dividend income. Hence, double tax. That would make the capital gains t...

Re: Taxing the Rich in America
I actually figured he tripped up his words since whenever someone mentions double taxation it almost always refers to capital gains tax almost never corporate tax. It would make no sense whatsoever to call the corporate tax, double taxation because it's the first tax in the sequence, the first tax c...

Re: Taxing the Rich in America
I certainly agree with raising capital gains tax and reducing or eliminating corporation tax. Aside from being fundamentally a double taxation and hence a massive waste of government and accountant time, corporation tax is massively distorting (hits small and local companies much more than large an...

Well, can the other guys fix it? Or is it so unfixable its come so that the old guy with the big monkey-wrench looks good? And he can't fix the economy, not even close.
Unless getting rid of the EPA, getting rid of Capital Gains and Estate Tax and a whole slew of other programs is suppose to "fix" things.
