Re: "Rate my Rig" thread

If it wasn't for wanting to play DCS and Star Citizen, I would've been mostly fine with what I had. But I also wanted to future proof for a bit. And like I said, well paying city job, no kids, no spouse, means I have more money to spend on toys.

Nice!
Are you sure you don't mean i9-7940x? The 7640 belongs to an i5, methinks.
*checks my notes*

Yes, 7940X.

It's a big jump going from a 1060, 8 gigs of ram and an i5.

Except with Moscow Mitch refusing to table things, Congress is unable to pass laws. Your elected gubberment is broken, and the SCOTUS just stopped your civil servants adapting to the present situation. "we got three major consequential rulings in such short space in a single term."- yeah....

Re: Ukraine reacts to fears of Russian invasion as troops build up at the border

Zelensky has to keep banging on the drum for a NFZ. One, it boosts morale at home, showing his people that he's not on the firing line, but he's still fighting for them. Two, it boost public support around the world to continue supporting Ukraine. Three, it also helps pressure those friendly governm...

Saw reports that the Germans voted in a 100 Billion Euro bump to the Bundeswehr for this year and mandated a 2% GDP annually. Congrats Russia, you got Germany to rearm. Here's the acticle. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced a plan to beef up the German military on Sunday, pledging €100 billion ...

Book of Boba Fett (spoilers)

Well, first episode dropped. I loved it. Western vibes with Boba being captured by a tribe of Tusken Raiders. Plus establishing his control on Jabba/Bibb's criminal empire on Tatooine.

Oh, and missed the edit window, but I’m 99% that was Fisk, cause that chuckle sure sounded like Vincent D’Onofrio. And apparently foreign language dubs used the same voice actors for that chuckle as they did for Fisk in the Netflix MCU

I'm loving it so far. I like them showing Clint having the wear and tear of being a spy/field agent and then an Avenger with no super powers. And I love Jeremy Renner's performance, carrying through that desperation of not having seen his kids in five plus years, and now he has them back and he's ju...

Re: Kyle Rittenhouse Found Not Guilty

Oh, so they gave him the water and told him to go home before he shot two unarmed men? That's even worse. Nice job of ducking the point about what would have happened to a black person if he had approached a police line with a loaded gun after shots had been fired. Didn't see where you raised the p...

Re: Kyle Rittenhouse Found Not Guilty

For example, the police handed Rittenhouse a water bottle and sent him on his merry way after the crowd told them he had just shot two people -and he was still brandishing the gun. They didn't even stop him to see if his gun had been fired. So, respectfully, no, that's not what happened. The water ...

Re: Kyle Rittenhouse Found Not Guilty

I guess what I'm looking for is how going out with a specific intent to use a firearm to defend property can ever count as self-defense regardless of what happens after that point. Shouldn't there be a reasonable actor clause in here somewhere that kiboshes all of this? The problem is, and this is ...

Cause he didn't. The weapon was purchased by his best friend, under a trust, to be held by the friend until Rittenhouse was 18 years old, at which point he could legally posses it, and it would then be transferred to him. While it does sound like a straw purchase, it's the same sort of idea of if yo...

Having watched every minute of the trial, I'm not surprised. It was a pretty clear case of self defense. And that's before you get into the various times the prosecutors, Binger and Kraus, either attempted to question someone's constitutional right to silence, or to have an attorney, or provided evi...

Re: Alec Baldwin 'heartbroken' and cooperating with police after fatal onset shooting of Halyna Hutchins

How often does Hollywood even use live rounds in filming ? Because I can't think of a good reason to use them. So my thinking is that live rounds should never be present for filming, so hot/cold guns should refer to the difference between a gun with blanks and an empty gun. The only time I can even...

I don't think the Pansjir resistance is holding out for a stake in any sort of negotiation. It's being led by the Afghan VP, Saleh, and Ahmad Massoud, the son of the Lion of Pansjir, who got assassinated by the Taliban in '01. Saleh has tweeted that he'll never bow or be under one roof with the Tali...

Yeah, the last few years have made it pretty hard for the US to grandstand about freedom, democracy, and whatever. Maybe, but the US Air Force is running their own shuttles out of Vandenburg on the west coast, as well as getting into a regional dust up in Panama, so I'm sure they're throwing money too.
