Re: Something big
Some of the designs definitely have evolved a bit, especially at the low end of the range where the scaling gets really sort of wonky. Generally speaking, if I say it's MTL, I currently assume 200GT/shot like Acclamator unless specifically noted. The twin turrets on the Vigil and Velox I'm now assu...

Re: Rise of Skywalkers reviews (Spoilers in this thread)
I'll just give my last two-cents on this. The entire sequel trilogy, from the outset, is a miscarriage of bad writing. The actors, including the original and new cast, were wasted. Anger or hate directed at the actors is an injustice and misplaced. These movies will be part of the series now, foreve...

Re: Rise of Skywalkers reviews (Spoilers in this thread)
So many...many plot holes. Horrible pacing. And yet I enjoyed this more than I did TLJ.
I'll paraphrase something I heard from the RedLetterMedia guys: "JJ Abrams is really good at remaking other people's movies." But badly.

Re: The Mandalorian Discussion Thread (spoilers and such)
Bit early to call it a different variant of TIE line fighter though. Until we get an official say-so from the canon authorities this may be either a special craft for Moff Gideon himself, the standard way that TIE Fighters have *always* landed, or as that wiki seems to allege -- a new version of the...

Re: The Mandalorian Discussion Thread (spoilers and such)
Looks like we have ourselves an unseen TIE Fighter configuration, or one that was always standard but never shown on screen. I quite like it, personally. Not sure how standard it would be across the Empire though.

Re: The Mandalorian Discussion Thread (spoilers and such)
The latest episode (6) made me think of the "Edge of the Empire" RPG. Everything that went down is eerily similar to events that happened in one of my campaigns. Everyone betrayed everyone and only one of us got away with the cash. lol Amusing as hell. But, again, they skimped on the chara...

Re: Something big
That's...a very good point. The Empire being the Empire, I expect it is probably organised and written down in some extremely detailed fashion, that the pilots and officers will ignore in urgent situations. Actually it's in urgent situations when training kicks in. It's why it's training and why it...

Re: Something big
Presumably they would use those little golf-cart things they had in the ANH hangar to move pilots down the catwalks quickly, each pilot hopping off at an elevator as they pass. Nah, they'd just need to have the pilot ready room next to the hangar catwalk access. It'd be where they report to when th...

Re: Something big
I don't know why...but it somehow seems inefficient...and I can't tell if it's simply something about the aesthetics or if it's something actually conducive to making the setup better in terms pilot-to-craft ingress.

Re: Something big
understood Now with that rack arrangement you could do an inverse staggered set of rails so that you could drop multiple rows at the same time. The ships could be in limited slave control by the carrier until they exit the hanger zone and get fanned out to not collide before they go under their own...

Re: Something big
You could potentially have an entire wing deployed in...well, perhaps half a minute or a little more. I'd even wager that diligent ship captains drill their squadrons for quickest deployment times. For ships such as the Secutor-class, Compellor-class, and all of the dreadnoughts that carry a lot of ...

And actually, that brings up something else I remember running across. Is the old EU depiction of the standard ISD reactor output at "~7,73 × 1024 W" correct enough or was that just putting a number without thinking about the dimensions of the reactor?

Re: THRAWN: TREASON coming out in July
The GR swung back against the Vong thanks to Jedi Plot Armor, more than anything. There isn't a very good real world equivalent to it. There is no question in my mind though that the Empire would have managed to survive and fighter back better and stronger. That is simply a fact of them being a mili...

So he's a monster with the ability to justify things? Goodo. It's like those guys who laud the SS for "defending Europe from Bolshevism." Not sure if he's a monster, but he's good at ignoring them. And no, it's not the same at all really. Also, fuck those guys and any allusion you might h...

I believe the reason for that, Gandalf, is the same reason why every single German on trial at Nuremberg was not executed; why every single Wehrmacht soldier, Waffen-SS trooper, Allgemeine-SS stooge, etc weren't executed for crimes against humanity. It was determined by deed, if not in word, that th...

Concerning the chain of command and the lack of additional ranks between Thrawn and Captain Paelleon, I put this down to the fact that Timothy Zahn was writing in the SW universe for the first time. He has greatly increased and changed how the command system works in his latest, new-Canon works. Fro...

Reminds me of people getting angry at Karen Traviss. There were so many neckbeards sprouting that I had to double check my own shave line. Since we're on the subject of GoT -- I think the entire season was sped up and cut into weird shapes on purpose; not for the purpose of making a competent ending...
