Re: Metal Gear Rising

I guess most of the shitty stuff people associate with MGS isn't as prevalent in MGR. But yeah, the assist mode is only on easy so I don't think it'd be possible to enjoy the difficulty of the game without first getting past the parry mechanic.

Re: Metal Gear Rising

I have. Thematically, it fits with the older MGS games, what with crazy bosses going into speeches about humanity on the battlefield, it's just the gameplay that's changed. And even then, there are segments of the game you can run around doing stealth kills, even if when you're busted you just bust ...

Re: The Amazing Spiderman Movie (May have spoilers ahead)

I saw the 3D - the movie was filmed in it, but the punch doesn't come until the final crane sequence leading up to Oscorp tower, which - for me - was worth the price of the 3D alone. Fortunately, I work at the theater and don't pay for tickets, but the swinging sequence was great.

Re: Why the Halo Movie Failed to Launch

Didn't Jackson help Blomkamp fund District 9 with some of the leftover money from Halo movie anyway? Judging by the Landfall trailer and D9 itself it's pretty obvious that whatever, Blomkamp did, it wouldn't focus on the Chief. Hell, it'd probably be more along the lines of the masturbatory Halo 3 a...

Re: Gundam Unicorn 5 preview

Out of curiosity, Stark, could you go into why the dub was poor? I admit my standards are pretty crap, but what in particular was bad about Unicorn's dub. I honestly am and well versed enough on the sub/dub thing to understand beyond 'I getmore out of dramatic scenes because I understand straight ou...

Re: Gundam Unicorn 5 preview

I mentioned to Ford how not even thirty seconds into her appearance Martha gets a gratuitous ass shot. But yeah, I was looking at the amazon blu-ray page and this ep looks to be around eighty minutes, which makes me feel a bit better about the plot threads. Then I saw the hundred dollar price tag an...

Re: Gundam Unicorn 5 preview

Having not read the books, I'm actually curious to see how they wrap everything up in two episodes. But I agree with Ford re: episode four - if they keep up the score and the themes the like I'll enjoy it regardless.

Re: "Chronicle" Preview

The movie was really worth a watch. The characterization is probably the best part - it's not a superhero movie at all beyond the characters getting telekinesis, so you get to watch the characters slowly grow outward. By the end, though, I was getting the idea that Andrew enjoyed the cameras to an a...

Re: ATTN: anime people RE: End of Evangelion

Yeah, beyond two new choral 'epic' (Final Decision We All Must Make and Carnage, which replace tracks that were pretty lame in the original episode 19 - Carnage especially) tracks, RoE2 has a lot of redone music - for example, 'Sin From Genesis' is just 'The Beast II' with an electric guitar. The 'e...

Prometheus Trailer

Link While the actual Alien might not be in the trailer, you can see the gun/thing/whatever from the original Alien movie in there. And as interesting as the connection to Scott's original film are, the film will probably stand on its own beyond a wink and nod. Scott's given interviews saying the f...

Re: HALO Anniversary is ass

They handed the remakes of the multi maps to a third party, but handled the campaign themselves. My brother and I are cooping it up right now, and while we're not as caring about the graphics as Stark, we're pretty disappointed there wasn't as option to switch vs play as well graphical engines. But,...

If they had killed Darryl off I would have dropped this show like a turd from out of my ass and then flushed it away. Christ, truer words have never been spoken. Re: The Inevitable MW3 Thread

I finished the campaign last night. While it wasn't as bad as MW2, I felt that the game fell apart after Act 2. The game is wonderful (relative to the series, I guess) to that point, but the Castle and Salt Mine missions are pretty bland in comparison to the set pieces before it. That said, the fina...

Unless he was operating under the (correct) assumption that the horde would converge entirely on the fresh meat? Re: Ace Combat: Assault Horizon

Another thing I noticed - the level pacing is horribly slow, a lot of time you find yourself waiting for the next set of bad guys to spawn. I might be in that one percent that enjoyed the chopper sections, but they were the worst offenders in the 'kill a group, wait for orders' category. Both of the...

Re: Ace Combat: Assault Horizon

Yeah, I went through Markov three times before realizing it's nothing but his final approach that matters - the DFM chases are all scripted. It feeds in with a lot of other DFM chases in the campaign (lol miami) giving the plane you're chasing immunity until you get through the scripted environmenta...

Re: Ace Combat: Assault Horizon

I've had them killsteal my targets out from under me, but I'm only playing on the normal difficulty so I'm not sure if this keeps up on Elite or Ace difficulties. They'll handle enemies just fine - it's not 100% do everything yourself but you're still handling a good majority of it.

If nothing else I like Ace Combat joining the world of non-silent PC's, it's great to hear him go "shitshitshit" when I've got eight target planes all jockeying for position behind me. I've noticed the TGT_LEAD's difficulty as well, since they tend to have the most scripted DFMs - they'll ...

I've been playing the series since Shattered Skies, so I picked this up for something like ten bucks yesterday. So far I'm only three or four missions in, and it's a mixed bag. People rag on Ace Combat 6 all the time for its story, but it's easily the best playing of the AC games. Assault Horizon do...
