Re: Stark Trek Into Darkness *SPOILERS*

I think that might be a reality of a universe that is only seen through film, though; they don't have the luxury of being able to do quiet, introspective episodes of puttering through space. Pacing, especially action movie pacing, has it's demands. I gotta echo the love for the warp chase scene. I w...

Re: Vice Presidential Debate Ryan VS Biden

That was not a debate. That was a grown man beating a baby seal with a tire iron for ninety minutes. I'm surprised Ryan could still walk once it was over.

So, of course, the news will "forget" about it by Saturday...

Re: Bit of Analysis: Orion's Arm

I've been writing my own D6-based "abstracted simulationist" system for a pulpy detective setting of my own devising over the past few months, which I think could probably be massaged into an Orion's Arm game. The reason I think so is that my game is a low-number game which has built into ...

Re: Bit of Analysis: Orion's Arm

Orion's Arm would be best as the setting for a pen-and-paper RPG, with clades, provolves, vecs and alifes as races at character creation and the GM playing the local AI god in addition to his normal duties. Smaller scale villains of myth and legends work very well as RPG baddies; the party are low-l...

I've played a lot of Just Cause 2 with a mod that makes my grappling gun go out to about 2 kilometers. I've collected enough health packs to jump off a few of the skyscrapers and survive the fall. I could be godlike, but I guess I will just settle for ability to generate infinite 100% reliable parac...

Re: New Robocop teaser

Okay. Fuck it. Robocop does not need a fucking remake. Normally I am totally cool with remakes and updates when they bring a fresh angle to the material. But Robocop is not only relatively recent, but it holds up. If you touched up the effects you could release that shit today and it'd still have a ...

Re: Legend of Korra "Turning the Tides" Talkback

Oh I did not know that. I thought most professional voice actors have more range ? I guess the likes of Jennifer Hale and Billy West have spoiled me. :) Some voice actors have range in terms of sound, some have range in terms of their ability to imitate, some have ranges in accents, and some simply...

Seriously? So apparently taking action against the encroaching influence of white beauty standards on other cultures is now "racism"?

Re: Paint Pictures Everyday (Not about Snoop Dogg)

Yeah, I'm garbage at perspective. I'm not giving up on it; I ordered a couple of books last night and I'm basically going to put nose to grindstone about it, but it has never come easy to me, so digital mockup is something I thought of early on. I did these concepts about a week ago using a clay ren...

Re: Legend of Korra "The Revelation" Talkback (Spoilers)

Regarding the more widespread metalbending/lightningbending, it may simply be the case that training has gotten a lot better in the last 100 years. When Aang was running around, the world was at war, resources were being rationed, and bending secrets were being horded for the combat advantage they p...

Holy shit dudes, what a twist. We're going to get some weird troll fusionsprites!

He has an odd number of bodies. Though odds are we get a Feferi/Eridan sprite, it'd be funny if Eridan ends up forever alone, even in death.

Re: Rape victims say military labels them 'crazy'

Last I remember it's something like 8% of men. And yes, this is totally that sort of thing. Both the average person and the criminals are thinking of the "violent psycho serial killer" when they answer this question. It's sad and ironic the low end of the criminal guesses are closer to the...

Re: Rape victims say military labels them 'crazy'

The problem about rape culture is less that it makes good men rape women (or other men), but that it hides the actual rapists and encourages them. Ever heard someone joking about rape - in person, on the web, on television? Yeah, that's part of rape culture - and it tells the rapists that they are ...

Re: General slliness with freeze rays

Um, presumably, zero Celsius, if you threw some water on there. Well, I guess you'd have to negate the engine heat, and you'd want it to freeze fast, but it's not just temperature that's important; you need some water to chuck on there as well.
