[TV Series] Ahsoka Discussion Thread [Unmarked Spoilers!]
First two episodes are out. A great way to start things, I think it works for both fans of Rebels who will appreciate the little continuity bits strewn about while also leaving enough for 'new' fans to pick things up, as well as implied backstory we didn't get in the show (whatever happened between ...

Re: Why are all ship captains always literal captains?
Speaking of Starfleet is not a modern day Navy, we had Riker get four pip when he took command of the Big-E in "Best of Both Worlds" but then go right back down to three when Picard came back. I don't recall if anyone else got a "temporary" promotion like this that was then reduc...

Re: Why are all ship captains always literal captains?
I think it's worth noting that Sisko did command the Defiant for a bit before he got his fourth pip in DS9. And indeed, the reason he started as Commander Sisko was to Be Different from a Captain always commanding. I don't think they referred to him as "Captain" while he commanded the Defi...

Re: New Star Wars Films announced. Plus Ahsoka
So no more rogue squadron? Maybe, possibly, but it could end up like Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Book of Boba Fett and go from Movie to Disney+ Limited Series: Regarding the rumored "Star Wars" project from Patty Jenkins, "Rogue Squadron," Kennedy confirmed that it remains in develop...

Re: No Disintegrations
The reason Vader would reemphasize the point to Boba Fett in particular? Its simple-- Fett also works for Jabba, and Vader knows it, but Jabba's bounty on Han (mentioned earlier in the movie and seen in the previous film) is apparently a Dead or Alive contract, and Vader has to remind Fett that his...

Re: How many people during the Empire knew Palpatine was a Sith?
This is something that I think the Disney/Marvel writers really didn't think through. Hardly shocking. The old EU was pretty sloppy over Darth Vader = Anakin Skywalker, with it either being a secret or common knowledge depending on the writer. Eventually they settled on secret except every author w...

Re: Why didn't Vader use the Force to assume command of the Death Star and overthrow the Emperor?
In ANH, Vader was sufficiently broken/cowed that the idea of betraying Palpatine wasn't even there. Even if he could have broken Tarkin's will (extremely unlikely) or simply killed him and declared himself in command, he had no motivation or desire to do so. In ROTJ, Vader may have been open to the ...

Re: Mass shooting at LGBT/Drag queen club stopped
Should we also mention that the Vet who stopped said shooting was arrested by the police? To BE fair, that's what would happen in any such incident. I can't imagine a scenario where you walking out roughup and probably bloodied by you bashing a shooter down won't be mistaken as part of the perpetua...

Re: We need to talk about Andor
Well, we all knew that stormtroopers can be competent killers when you don't have character shields, as the troops on Leia's ship and some of the Ewoks showed us.
Today we learn they are even better when it comes to shooting down unarmed civilians.

Kinda curious about the uncle and his 'favours' though. The best he could swing was an entry-level data entry job? And that was the big family favour? The dude was recently fired, sure, but still had the credentials to be a fairly ranking member of that corpo security force. We don't know the Uncle...

Re: We need to talk about Andor
Also, that was some impressive dysfunction within the ISB. That blonde woman found something that justified her getting access to case files held by someone else because it might be connected to events in her sector. Just a simple copying of files. But instead the infighting between members of the ...

Re: Eckharts Ladder Star Wars lore
All of this, of course, doesn't necessarily excuse or explain other Star Wars minimalists. I disagree with Hidalgo, at least as he is presented in this thread: the value of the old books was in their portrayal of the FEEL of the setting, not the hard numbers. The latter are flexible, and should be ...

Re: Anyone else watching Obi-Wan Kenobi?(Spoiler thread)
Now I have to wonder why the Emperor decided to rein in Vader at the end. Did Obi-Wan not just demonstrate that he continues to be a legitimate threat? Why intentionally allow him to remain at large? Obi-Wan was Vader's obsession, Vader's nemesis and Vader's desire to kill. Not Palpatine. Palpatine...

Re: Anyone else watching Obi-Wan Kenobi?(Spoiler thread)
Can lightsabers deflect stun blasts? Yep. Because it's a tactic that would be a good idea against foes with guns. The kind of people they would normally be fighting. It only fails here because Kenobi pulls something they weren't expecting. Meanwhile closing to melee while you're being shot at is al...

Re: Anyone else watching Obi-Wan Kenobi?(Spoiler thread)
And what the hell is it with stormtroopers closing to melee range when fighting Jedi? They sacrifice their biggest tactical advantage by doing that. They'd be even smarter if they actually sought cover so the Jedi couldn't easily deflect their blaster shots right back at them. How many stormtrooper...

At a minimum, her first attack left him in no position to prevent her finishing him off. So why would she let him live ? Didn't she basically immediately pursue Kenobi toward the cargo ship after making her gutter comment? I'd presume by the time she got done shaking her fist impotently at the depa...

Re: Anyone else watching Obi-Wan Kenobi?(Spoiler thread)
The Clones are definitely still aging faster than normal. If the rapid aging stopped at maturity, Rex and crew would be early/mid-40s at most by Rebels - they're clearly much older (physically) than that.

Re: Rework the AT-TE
The riot police theory makes a good bit of sense, but it does raise the question of why it was never replaced. That question can be answered pretty easily out of universe, of course, but supposing you are correct, what might the properly militarized replacement be? The AT-AT? The Ep2 ICS gave us th...

Re: Rework the AT-TE
I'm not a vet or anything, but it could be a situation where the ATTE was initially designed for something like anti-riot policing. Republic procurement decided that better to buy a ton of these off the shelf and throw them into warzones rather than wait for something more specialised, and clones a...

Is there any indication that the race / ethnicity of the students may have played a role in the police response? Bad enough if the police was just incompetent. And obviously no child regardless of race deserves something like that happening to them. I sincerely hope though that this wasn’t a school...

Re: Book of Boba Fett (spoilers)
- The Darksaber getting heavy in a fight is a surprising detail. I wonder where they are going with that. It's a bit of a metaphysical thing with (at least) the Darksaber, possibly all lightsabers now but definitely applies to the Darksaber particularly. It was first brought up in Rebels and what K...

Re: Book of Boba Fett (spoilers)
Filling someone's helmet with coins seems an impractical way to pay a tribute to the new crime lord. I think the helmet filled with coins thing is more about style and theater than practicality. That's also assuming that the owner of Sanctuary wasn't involved with the subsequent attack, and filling...
