Re: Doctor Who S36E11: World Enough and Time (Spoilers)

Oh God, horrible thought... Moffat is killing off Bill to facilitate bringing his pet Clara back for 12's finale. Don't do that to yourself, man :P You have to admit, it would be a very Moffaty thing to do. :( I've seen regrettably little of this season, but I like what I've seen of Bill. I'm not u...

Re: Watched Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire for the first time

My knowledge of this film comes almost entirely from the SF Debris review of it, but it honestly occurred to me "You know, this could make a good live action reboot". As to Gargoyles, its funny you mention that, because I seem to recall that if it had taken off/gotten a TV sequel, it was s...

Re: So, there are protests against corruption occurring in Russia

Well, yes, I agree with most of that. But I think that Putin has persistently proven himself such a threat, both to his own minority groups/political dissidents and to the rest of the world, that such opposition to him (as opposed to the effectively unchallenged strangle-hold he's lately seemed to e...

Re: Doctor Who S36E11: World Enough and Time (Spoilers)

As a real old time fan the re-introduction of Mondas and Mondasian cybermen was great to see. A "shocker" with what happened to Bill, and her interaction with the Doctor at the end was brilliant. Yeah, she should have been more than a one season companion, but she has been converted, and ...

Re: A roleplay?

Something with that Firefly-like feel to it, with the crew of some small freighter or transport, would be an interesting twist, to see how events might affect people who really don't care about the outcome one way or another, they just want to get through the day, make a couple bucks, and not get k...

Re: Trump's Solar Wall

The superconducting power line is the sort of thing that gets funded by governments that actually want to spend money on infrastructure. This does not include either the Trump Administration or the Republican-dominated 115th Congress. I mean, I get the idea of "use Trump to do useful things.&q...

Re: A roleplay?

So we can bring in more than one character/ship each? Because I'd very much like to do the Serenity crew from "Firefly", but I'd like to bring in someone from Star Trek too, and I had a couple OC ideas I floated earlier as well. I even have some others I haven't brought up yet- I don't thi...

Re: Theresa May calls snap General Election for June 8th

Maybe, but in Corbyn's defense, its my understanding that he was dealing with a lot of internal divisions in his own party, and still managed to considerably improve on Labour's performance in other recent elections. So its hard to really see that as a failure on his part. I'm not a British politics...

Re: A roleplay?

How I'm going to start is by having my characters get contacted and retasked from whatever they were doing to investigate the scale and scope of the threat, negotiate and nullify by whatever means are available. And yes, it's implied that all "factions" are aware of all other "factio...

Re: Theresa May calls snap General Election for June 8th

Well, we'll see. I can't imagine what Labour politicians would stand to gain politically by opposing Corbyn after his recent successes, though I don't doubt May's Conservatives can do a lot of damage yet. Though that will likely only fuel support for Corbyn in the long run.

Re: CAA study shows diverse casting increases box office potential across all budgets

Yeah, fair enough. I guess the argument is more "you should have a variety of body types", though. For that matter, the Amazons are supposed to be an entire society, yes? In any civilization, realistically, you wouldn't have all warriors, whatever the "warrior race" cliche preten...

Superhumans don't need massive amounts of muscle to be taken seriously as a threat because they are, you know, superhuman. Except almost every superhero has been trained or asked to put up massive amount of muscle for the role, such as Superman. Which is... kind of stupid, really. And there are cou...

Re: So, there are protests against corruption occurring in Russia

TRR, look at the entire history of Russia over the past, oh... century or so, I think it is now. The country is a case study in how the new boss may not be any better than the old boss and may, in fact, be far worse. Vlady, if deposed, could be replaced by someone who is worse on civil rights and o...

Re: A roleplay?

Question: Are we limited to one large ship per franchise, or one ship in total, or what? Ie, can we bring in ships from more than one franchise? Oh, and I'm claiming Serenity and her crew from the Firefly/Serenity 'verse, if that's alright (though definitely not a battleship). Probably post-film. A ...

I can't think of anybody replacing Putin who would not be worse, a puppet of his or just simply too weak to hold things together. Worse in what way? More militarily aggressive? Because anything else, while perhaps worse for Russia, would surely be better for the rest of the world. Gotta love that c...

I doubt they'll actually be able to force Putin out, but I wish them the best. Its both a sign of how far visual effects have progressed, and how much effort and skill have gone into the visual design of Game of Thrones, that there are times when a television series looks better and grander than the Lord of the Rings films.

I personally don't feel that there's any need at all for detailed stats. or anything, if this is to be, as I gather, more of a collaborative story than a role-playing game, but I think it would be reasonable that if posters are going to introduce a particular ship or technology or what have you, tha...

Rather than just tut-tutting at those backwards Turks, we might also consider the role that Erdogan's active suppression of the opposition over a long period of time has played in this. I'm sure there are many in Turkey who like what he's doing- no leader can accomplish much if the public sentiment ...
