Thermodynamic and the Big Crunch

One of the possible Ends of the Universe involves gravity ultimately overcoming the outward expansion of space/time/matter/energy since the Big Bang and EVERYTHING contracts to a geometric point.

Doesn't that violate "the universe as a whole decays from higher order to entropy"?

Re: Realization about centrifugal gravity

I always wondered about that scene in 2001 where Dr. Poole was jogging within the centrifuge module onboard the Discovery...was he jogging spinward, thus increasing the G force and increase the effectiveness of his workout, or anti-spinward and enjoying low-G on demand?

Re: What To Do With Venus?

I was wondering about going the other way - shrouding venus with orbital mirrors. With less energy going in, the atmospheric heat will drop until a new equilibrium is struck. let the C02 freeze out of the atmosphere, box it up (lol) and remove the mirrors. slowly add CO2 back as the plants grow. If...

Re: Paul Atreides vs Ozymandias

Ozy has a ace up his sleeve... He built some kind of tachyon generator to cloak his plans from Dr. Manhattan's prescience. Could he not do the same against Paul's ability to see the future? Furthermore, Ozy's fighting skills against Comedian, Rorsharch, and Nite Owl (and Silk Spectre?) is ample evid...

Paul Atreides...Kwizatz-Haderach...Muad'Dib to the masses and Usul to the inner circle. Has metaphysical abilities on par with a Jedi Master. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Atreides Ozymandias...Adrian Veidt...member of the Watchmen and "Smartest Man in the World". Can knock around fell...

Re: The Punisher vs The Comedian

Does it matter? At the time of his death, Eddie was still 225 and built like a linebacker. Also, in the 40s, Eddie was much younger and had the shit beaten out of him at the hands of Hooded Justice when found in the middle of raping the original Silk Spectre. For the sake of argument, lets put both ...

Quasi-Fermat Equasion

Is there a solution for X^e+Y^e=Z^e, where X,Y,and Z are whole numbers and e is the base of the natural log? I know, due to Fermat, that no whole number solutions exist for whole number exponents greater than 2, but e isn't a whole number (2.71828182856...). I also know that certain rational fractio...

Re: Free Will and Determinism

I always figured it was ultimately a matter of...theoretical metaphysics...regarding how the future unfolds: Does each point in the present give rise to an immeasurable number of possible future timelines? Or is there only ONE timeline, with a future as set in stone as the past is? Quantum Mechanics...

The Feds have a super-missle called a Quantum Torpedo which, essentially, creates a mini-BigBang explosion...a rapid, 11-d expansion.

Should Droids be granted Sentient Rights?

Inspired by this fanfic. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5914015/1/Measure_of_a_Droid A freighter from the GFFA transverses the ubiquitous wormhole/spatial anomaly and encounters a mostly-human government...one which has created artificial intelligences with legal rights, usually bestowed to only organi...

In the mid to late 1800s the Periodic Table of Elements http://library.thinkquest.org/12909/media/periodic1.gif was assembled to arrange the known chemical elements by their physical and chemical properties. Hmmm...like some super-celebrity and fan mail.

Or me and spam

There must be some way to sender-encode and/or receiver-filter the incoming glut of pshychic info...perhaps there is a telepathic analog of frequency or phase?

Re: Jedi/Sith power of Retcon?

That is only true if, for every point in the present, there is only one future, instead of a (possibly infinite) multitude of futures.

Jedi/Sith power of Retcon?

Suppose a Jedi or Sith had a random moment of introspection and said to him/herself, "Man, I wish I could've done that differently." Maybe he can? Is it possible for a Force User to send a telepathic message from their present-self to their past-self, saying, "Hey, this is what's goin...

Apparently, the currently accepted value for this parameter is 70.8km/sec/Mparsec.

What is this value in terms of Planck Units? yknow, planck length and plank interval?

Re: What happened to the 7 Deadly Sins?

A fundi Calvinist co-worker of mine says they are sins and they are bad, but there is nothing inherently special about them...in other words, sin is sin, period.
