Traditional Viking games?
So I am running an option course at a middle school called world history-Vikings and I thought it might be a fun activity to do a viking games unit. So far finding material has been difficult, does anyone know any resources on traditional Scandinavian games? (Most of what I have found is wrestling, ...

Re: The College Rape Overcorrection
My university had a sexual violence seminar thing this semester. Overall the seminar was quite feminist; however, they did not take nearly as a hard line as 'The Romulan Republic' regarding drunken sex. They made a clear distinction between someone who is drunk and someone who is so drunk that they ...

I think in the book it was unclear if Reek was the one who fucked up Ramsay or Ramsay fucked up Reek. Regardless, I think the real Reek was messed up when he met Ramsay.

I will generally drink Ceylon Tea (orange pekoe). While I will drink coffee with milk, adding anything to tea seems off to me.

I believe that a Spartan phalanx(s) defended Greece against Hunnic invasions. So it seems they had traditional units for quite some time after conquest.

Japan might be redder than the Philippines because it is an older population. Age demographics might explain some of the other surprises.

Re: How could you have made High Density public housing WORK
Stas, what do Asian societies do to ensure that people will not behave like assholes in their high-rises? Probably a great many different things. In China I assume most people are in those high rises because they have factory jobs, if they were unemployed they would most likely be back in the count...

I have watched and enjoyed a few of them. The courses are reasonably comprehensive and should provide you with roughly an intro university course level of information (obviously with no academic rigor). Though even with a steep discount they are still over priced.

Seeing Jamie's Iron hand in the trailer reminds me of a question I had while reading the books... Why does Jamie use the iron hand rather than some sort of apparatus that he can strap a sword to? I understand the ability to change grips is important to sword play, but given his skill in his non domi...

Re: What books do you pick to rebuild civilization?
I think attention should be given to the book physically, not just its content. In this scenario some the information in the book may not be fully usable for centuries, ideally it should be made of materials that are not going to perish if it is kept in less than ideal conditions.

Re: The first female Marines ever to complete infantry train
It pretty much is hilarious how people are claiming that surviving Stalingrad (what with its food shortages, no heating, freezing winter so cold that you could not touch any metal or it would rip your skin off) is not tough enough to get through US marches. That was not what I meant to say. I am ju...

I enjoyed the physics of the fight. It really felt like these guys were superhuman.
One thing I did not understand, why change the planet. I get that the atmosphere was uncomfortable for the Kryptonians, but Zod adapted quick enough.

Re: The first female Marines ever to complete infantry train
Stalingrad veterans went through hell, that does that mean they were great individual soldiers. Modern soldiers have the benefit of better diets, better training and education. They were no doubt tough as fuck though, since they did not have a choice.

I'd guess that they will higher graduation rates than men, just because the average women is not going to sign up for the marines. An average man might.

I would respond by showing that the U.S in the past 50's and 60's had much higher taxes on the highest tax brackets. This is a time when NASA achieved great things, infrastructure (roads and what not) was improved, and people were improving their standard of living. Libertarians want all the advanta...

No idea. What is worse is that many American principles were never teachers, they go to principal academies. Maybe the U.S sees them more like school CEO's than educators.Thanas wrote:Then why the heck do principals get that much more?
