Re: Doctor Who S36E2 "Smile" [Spoilers]

The vardy felt lazy - considering they could have just buried all the characters. Becuase they were holding themselves back, it didn't feel like a real threat. but the concept was great and the arctiecture fantastic. Re: Theresa May calls snap General Election for June 8th

That is not what i got from: Corbyn also said he would be cautious about acting on military intelligence where he might be asked authorise a drone strike on the Isis leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. “What is the objective? To have more strikes that would kill more possibly innocent people, or to get a ...

Re: Theresa May calls snap General Election for June 8th

The thing is, if Corbyn doesn't have the confidence of his MPs and the media hate him, that makes him a worse party leader. Two good characteristics of a party leader are the ability to work well with your fellow MPs and to get the media on-side. If you can't do that, that's a minus to your leaders...

Re: Meanwhile in Vietnam: Village arrests police

I'm hearing, but can't find any articles for, that the remainder of the police/officials have been released, following the Hanoi City Chief meeting them and having his arm twisted into writing a letter promising no reprisals. Reminds me of a case a few years back where a scientist farmer who had bro...

Re: Meanwhile in Vietnam: Village arrests police

This would be exactly why the Chinese are going so crazy for internet censorship. If it happens once, it can happen everywhere. When i was out there and a similar protester immolated himself in front of da nang city hall, I heard with an hour from a friend who got it from a colleague who got it fro...

Re: Brexit: UK to leave single market, says Theresa May

As far as I am concerned, if a population of an area wishes to remain a part of another country / union, they should be allowed to do so. If they want to leave, and/ or join somewhere else, then that's their choice. Forcing a population to do something it is overwhelmingly against would cause more ...

Re: You are in charge of settling Forest World (RAR!)

Im Still thinking about these trees. The ratio of branch spread to trunk height Zor states is weird. Even the biggest trees I've found in my area don't spread much outside of a sphere centered at mid trunk height. So how do the megatrees do it? One option I have is that the trees are very broad diam...

Wikiepedia disscusion pages can also be intersting identifiers of information that is contentious, wheras a dictionary or encyclopedia rarely presents multiple points of view, even if it has less flame wars. There's also something hilarously ironic that this thread has no sources (other than xkcd): ...

Re: Brexit: UK to leave single market, says Theresa May

Yeah but Gibraltar is tiny. Any amount of extra trade we can get in exchange for dropping it would be worth the miniscule amount it gives to the treasury. I'm fairly sure if a Tory government ceded territory that Britain stole fair and square they'd be swinging from lampposts before the day is out....

Re: Police Bodycams - One Less Excuse

Funnily enough my only engagement with the endless cctv cameras in the UK has been for a friend to prove an alibi for a fucking serious crime, and asking the neighbour if they caputered the face of the git who stole my bike. Last time I had a face off with a police officer I ended up using my phone ...

After a long and contentious counterstrike tournament amongst the denzins of Olympia, Chronus curses the Potamies with endless lag. As a result, all freshwater on earth now lags, it moves as though time is moving very slightly slower. Say 80%. Beer and ice remain unaffected. One obvious effect is th...

What I took away from that report: " PwC said 2.25 million jobs were at high risk in wholesale and retailing – the sector that employs most people in the UK – and 1.2 million were under threat in manufacturing, 1.1 million in administrative and support services and 950,000 in transport and stor...
